Building a FOB is helpful in making it easier to level up your teams, because it allows you more room for more staff beyond what Mother Base at max level will give you. But you actually do not need to defend or fight others online for a FOB to be useful to you. You can let people ransack your FOBs and you can still benefit if you're spending time in single player looking for more staff and doing missions to get your heroism up. Heroism is the crux in getting higher ranked staff, online infiltrations are just another way of getting more staff and resources, but are not required.

From experience, the only FOB missions i've done were against people with Rank E staff members and have had quite a few people make off with my FOB soldiers, but i'm still getting upgrades regularly because i'm out doing the side ops, harder missions and collecting well ranked soldiers. A tip is to weed out the staff lower than rank C and only go for soldiers with at lowest a C-B for their lowest stat, unless they have an A++ or an S.

Mission was easier than expected. It was TENSE though. I thought it was just another "go secure that truck and dodge those tanks" thing then the Skulls jump out and scare me. However I got lucky and crawled around the Skulls, getting them a little away from the truck. I fultoned it and ran my ass off the opposite direction of the Skulls and they never saw me.

The "old Venom Snake" picture is just some guy's retexture of Venom Snake's model. It's on the facepunch forums where all of these images were cultivated from. He says he just used Ocelot's face texture because he couldn't be arsed to edit/find the normal map for Venom Snake.

All of this brouhaha over stuff being cut from MGSV astounds me, it's like these people never realized that entire characters, arcs, areas, and mechanics get cut from games all the time. For reasons both nefarious and benign. I think Kojima fucked up by including that Episode 51 deleted scene in the Collector's Edition, because all it's done is fuel rampant paranoia and speculation that we got an incomplete game. They included it because they thought it'd be cool to show something that didn't make it into the final game, and it's backfired in the most annoying way possible.

Consider this:Metal Gear Solid V is over 80 hours long. For a full completionist playthrough it'slonger than every single Metal Gear Solid game combined. There is a metric fuckton of content in this game, and all of it does come together in a cohesive, cogent conclusion.

Now if people want to argue that they're unsatisfied with the conclusion, or that they're upset by Kojima subverting their expectations, that's fine. People did the same thing with MGS2, but to argue that the game isn't finished because plans were changed or that content was cut is disingenuous as fuck. This isn't Halo 2, people. Kojima finished the damn game.

Well the way the released game handles the Eli plot thread is really weird and dissatisfying, leaving people(and me) confused wondering why everyone just lets Eli and Tretij just make off with Sahelanthropus AND the yet to be known, humanity threatening third vial of the English Parasites. Metal Gear has a reputation of NOT leaving out details like this. Then people finding out we were SUPPOSED to get the conclusion to it in the game really set people off on the idea that Konami had some fault with really disrupting what KojiPro had in store. It understandably upset a lot of people, because it doesn't come off as being cut due to creative decisions. Even if Kojima didn't add that scene in the CE, I think people would still be upset there is a gaping hole in the entire story now.

Personally I think it's pretty lame that the story is now left with MGS having this weird retcon/plot hole battle with MGSV.

Don't tell me after having some youtube assholes spit in our collective faces we still can't figure out if this thing is bullshit or not. You're failing me internet.

After the petition thing. I'm pretty much done. That makes it too obvious its some fan trolling everyone.

I don't think it makes it "pretty obvious" of anything, it could just as easily be something official simply referencing the petition among other things before some reveal. For the 90th time, not saying that's 100% the case or anything, but just disputing the "obvious" point.

Yeah I suppose you're not wrong. But as it goes on, it's becoming less fun and just some silly carrot on a stick. There's almost nothing of value coming out of this. When it seems like most ARG stunts produced some kind of lead or hope by this amount of time. Call me impatient.

I have been seeing a lot of hate on the ending, or rather disappointment with it. I understand completely why people are disappointed with it, and how the story overall was handled. Personally I thought the ending was great. An awesome gift/send off to the players, a neat twist and a cool 'Metal Gear' crazy way of "closing the loop". Truly something that "can only be done in a video game". I can't help but feel like it was gimmicky and not the full ending though. Especially with all the cut content being passed around and how there's a bunch of little story tidbits you can run into by accident in the current game, as well as the unanswered questions.(Eli, Tretij, Huey and Big Boss related) That's my only disappointment coming from playing 100 hours of this game. However those 100 hours were some of the most fun and exciting times i've had with a video game in a while. It was a hell of a ride and it was most definitely worth the price tag. Which personally is like saying a 10/10 on Gamespot from 10 years ago.

ingsoc.org no longer links to that Funhaus video, but it now links to a Multiple Personality Disorder documentary. Someone on reddit is also claiming the ingsoc site is coded to unlock more content depending on certain conditions? I have no way to test that, it might just be more misleading theory BS. But man, it's not over yet.

@gesi1223:It's definitely related or the mother of all hoaxes, there's really no other option. I have to keep my hopes measured so that I maintain sanity on this!

@tothenines Apparently the host IPs are the same for the two sites? I honestly have no idea what the hell is even happening at this point, everything is just mental.

EDIT: http://imgur.com/Yc3Fbx0http://imgur.com/GEVRM0Thttp://imgur.com/I14fFbdhttp://imgur.com/mB9363z so all this apparently IS for that game? I'm tired...

shooting themselves in the foot for publicity? Very questionable business idea.

EDIT: its a "free" game, so i guess they dont care? what?

Has nothing to do with MGS, sorry duders. Some random survival horror game.

Edit: And now the site has been taken down after the announcement, and people are claiming that it has nothing to do with ingsoc.org? This shit is really weird...

Yeah the timer is still working on ingsoc.org, so I wanted to doubt you when I saw this post. I went to the link before it went to blank white page too and felt a lil disappointed, but then this happens? MAN THIS IS A GREAT DAY

I'm still not buying that it's MGS related (boy, do I hope it is) but this is certainly one hell of a ride. I'm glad you saw the page before it went blank, otherwise I'd just look like a loon yelling about nonsense.

After that webm of a cropped picture that seems so undoubtedly like Big Boss' left eye with morse code playing on ingsoc.org. I'm pretty dead set on Metal Gear.

http://ingsoc.org/countdown/new_toy_01.webm

Morse code message with a close up of someone who pretty much looks like Big Boss. I ran the message through a website that decodes morse code and got

'IS THERE SUCH A THING AS AN ABSOLUTE TIMELESS ENEMY?'

Which is pretty much a line The Boss spoke in MGS3. This is either an incredible hoax or something really cool is going on.
