Both were 1986 and very similar. Perhaps its a bit of both..but thanks for reminding me about Rygar. "
Yes they were similar, but not clones, and they differed on the art department.
Lords of Shadow is God of war 3 with Shadow of the Colossus thrown in for good measure. And then they ripped everything they could from Labyrinth of Pan to make the art. It's as if Guillermo Del Toro draw the thing.
And even if the games before where never near anything resembling SOTN (aside from Simon's Quest, which was the closest to it with it's free-roaming) from that point on the Metroidvania style was firmly entrenched in the games, which is completely absent here. The first Castlevania were fine games. but of all those, my favorite was Simon's quest. and then came SOTN to take the series to the next level. The Art was unique at the time, completely removing the gothic undertones to give it a baroque flair, gameplay was as fine as it was gonna get, and most people nowadays still refer to it as the pivotal moment in the series. What's wrong with asking something that resembles a bit more to the best, instead of remaking the worst?
Even if you click on them to add them to a new group...this is just parameters, written in a text file. So yes, it's not that much stress on the servers. Else, nobody would do it, and look at Steam...and they surely have less dollar power than Microsoft, of all people.
you know, I was depressed these days, seeing all the flame going on about this, and this thread just put a smile on my face. Thank you to those who subscribed, and I look forward to having a medal one of these days.
I don't think it's quite that clear cut. It probably applies just to the first wave of titles, which most of the time aren't as good as they should, in part because of the new systems.
