  • It's hard to beat the sheer badassery of a well told western, and that's exactly what Rockstar has given us in Red Dead Redemption. A first for Rockstar, John Marston is a morally just character that I loved living vicariously through, and the melancholy surprise ending was one of my favorite video game moments of all time.

  • Of course it's good. That was a given. Bungie's swan song in the Halo series was bound to stand up to the quality they had made standard in the series. But what I dug the most was the titanic-like storyline...we know the ship is sinking, but we don't know the passengers stories. I liked learning their story, and I was sad to see them go.

  • Angry Birds, for the iPad. I cannot begin to describe the sheer pig killing joy this game has brought me during my 8 a.m. operating systems course. I salute you, you very angry birds.

  • It's a big dumb rollercoaster ride and that's what I love about it. Call of Duty games never make you think too hard, but the pretty explosions and "holy cow" moments are what keep me coming back. Not to mention between now and the next COD game, I'll pour a ton of time into the rpg style online multiplayer.

  • Boy was this game unexpectedly fun. I picked it up on a whim because a friend of mine had been losing him mind building up to its release. I'd never played the other Splinter Cells, and guess what: I didn't need to to. I got to cap some fools, snap some necks, and have a great time. I'll definitely be buying the next installment.

  • I think I like Rock Band because its one of the few games that I'm actually good at: Give me a shooter, and I'll get my socks knocked off ten ways 'til Sunday, but give me a plastic guitar and I'll be jamming out on expert while singing at the same time. This is probably because of my years spent in bands playing the saxophone, but whatever, domination is domination. Rockband 3 is the ultimate edition of this series, so of course it made the list.

  • Holy crap. I'd heard about Minecraft. I had. To be honest, it sounded dumb. It sounded like the game was glorified Legos with no real point. Guess what: It is totally those things, and it is AWESOME for it. I didn't try it out until a friend of mine said he ran a server, but man. This game brings all the joyful wonder of exploring a forest as a kid, and escaping the zombies and skeletons and spiders is genuinely exhilarating. I can't explain it. Just play it. You'll be glad you did.

  • I should hate this game. I should have thrown the controller against the wall while simultaneously yelling obscenities and yanking the xbox power cord. But I don't, and I didn't. Super Meat Boy is different. Yes, it is unrelenting in its hatred of you finishing its levels, but all the while it makes your utter suckiness enjoyable! You can restart instantly, and the levels only last seconds. Plus, the game hits you over the face with its wacky charm and nostalgic, 8-bit sense of humor. I love it.

  • Yup. I'm a diehard wrestling fan, and while I agree that this game isn't technically the best game ever, I can't deny the sheer amount of fun I have with these titles, ever single year. I get to play out the craziness I watch on TV every week, and even throw my own created characters into the mix. Big dumb awesome fun, which is also why I love wrestling in the first place.

  • Could me and my fightpad kick it on the tournament scene? Certainly not. But does this game make me feel like a kid playing Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition on the genesis again? Hell yes. Kicking my buddies asses when they come over is pretty fun too.
