my top 5 movies, that arnt based on books

ok so little less then an 4 hours ago i made a blog about "my top 5 movies based on books". so i am going to do a list now that is just of my top 5 favorite movies ever. (i was going to do this tomorrow, but i got bored).

5. Tigerland
this is was a small movie when it came out in 2000. the budget was only 7million, very small compared to the 300million that some budgets are today. its about a group soldiers who go to tigerland to get ready for the vietnam war. its about Roland Bozz who is played by Colin Farrell, he doesnt take orders, and he hate the fact of going to war. he befriends Paxton played by Matthew Davis, who wanted to be in the war and is excited to fight in it. well Roland starts to get people to hate him at the camp, and his life gets threatened. he is also slowly become a good leader. he does find out that Paxton is to good of a guy to go to this war. so he makes some sacrifices that make him not seem like that ass he seems to be. this was also colins first major movie. this is one of my favorite war movies.

4. Zach and Miri Make a Porno
ok besides having a totally awesome name, this movie is probably the funniest i have ever seen. Seth Rogan plays Zach who lives with Miri played the Elizabeth Banks, and they need money to pay their rent, so what do they do, they make a porno! easiest plot to follow ever. but its also kinda sweet, because a thing starts to click between the to and some drama will happen. but with moments like the outfit montage, to someone getting "frosted like a fucking cake" this movie is flat out funny. and major props to Craig Robinson who continues to be great in all his movies, he was great in pineapple express, and he was my favorite in this movie, heres a clip of him and his wife, i loved it. justin long also has the best cameo in this movie as well.

3. Observe and Report:
so i like seth rogan if you cant tell, hes one of my favorite actors. and observe and report is other good movie that he is in. he plays Ronnie Barnhardt a mall cop who takes his job was to seriously. he just wants to be a cop. and i dont know if thats the plot of the movie, hell i dont know what the plot even it, they change it constenly. all i know is that this is one hell of a dark comedy. i did not see that coming. hes in love with Brandi who is played by ana faris, but she really shows no interest in him. but damint he keeps trying. but when a streaker comes along Ronnie decides to take the law into his own hands, and well he kinda fails. Ray Liotta plays Detective Harrison, who sees Ronnies urge to be a cop, and he tries to crush it. so basicly hes a dick. the ending is a real FUCK YOU to everyone who over looked him. its a great underdog story, even if hes a tad insane.

 2. Gone Baby Gone
if you read my other movie blog, gone baby gone was #2 on it. and here it is again. so its about Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and his girlfriend Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan) who are kinda like detectives, they really dont go into detail about it, but they are called to look for a little girl who has went missing. Patrick is kinda a badass, he knows how to get info. but he is also a flawed character, he has morals, and those morals come in big time at the end of the movie. hes constently clashing with Detective Sergeant Remy Bressant (Ed Harris), says they are "kids playing cop" (copied that from the last blog its easier then rewritting it). near the end, Patrick has to make some major decisions, and he loses some people over them. i think casey could take over his brother as the better affleck, i personally dont like ben, i think his acting is bad, though his directing is good. but casey makes partrick come alive and you really seem him fight for what he feels is right, weather it is good or a bad decision is up to you.

1. In Bruges
in bruges is without a doubt my favorite movie i have ever seem. i think its one of those movies you either like it or you dont. is incredibly orginal. its about Ray (colin farrell) and Ken (brendan gleeson) they are both hitmen who are told to go kill a priest. its rays job to kill him, he does but in the act of doing this he kills a kid. so their boss Harry Waters (ralph fiennes) tells them to go to bruges to hideout. and as it is said in the beginning of the movie "Shortly thereafter the instructions came through - "Get the fuck out of London, you dumb fucks. Get to Bruges." I didn't even know where Bruges fucking was.....its in belgium". about the first ten mins of the movie is just Ray dissing the town and hating, and getting into a fight with a fat american (here it is): later on ray will find love with a thief, ken will find that

everyone deserves a second chance. the movies endings is done well, they could have messed it up, but the director Martin McDonagh does it well. it is a "sad" ending in a way, and it is also left open, but i doubt there will be a sequel. its also shot beautifly, i want to go to bruges now. what why go there, whats is famous there?, well as ray says in the movie, "What's Belgium famous for? Chocolates and child abuse, and they only invented the chocolates to get to the kids" <--favorite line in the movie. Also the movie does a great job showing how much Rays character is depressed, it really comsumes him.

alright there you go, those are my favorite movies

my top 5 movies, that are based on books

i like to read, and i like movies. and i quite enjoy movies that are based on books. there arnt many good ones, some of them totally ruined what they were trying to do, which is make the book come to life. one of those is The Ruins which came out i think in '06. It was ok, but it messed everything up that the book did so well. and there are also so many good ones, like the lord of the rings series (the greatest series of movies i have ever seem), stand by me which was a stephen king book, of mice and men, the Gary Sinise version. There are tons more, and i do like most of them that i have seen. So here is my top 5, (and these are all i have seen, there are lots of other good ones out there i am sure, but these are one that i have seen, and comics count also).

5. Lord of the Rings (series): by J.R.R Tolkien, directed by Peter Jackson
ok so this made a lot of guys careers. by that i mean, they were famous actors, but when i think of them i will always remember them for there role in this movie. Im sure most if not all of you have seen these movies. they are based on J.R.R Tolkien books, that were written back in the 50's, which isnt all that long ago. He said his insperation for the lord of the rings was beowulf, which is a great book, and you can sense a little influence in them. the films star Elijah Wood as Frodo (the hero of the books and movie), though in the movies, it doesnt make him to be a hero that much. they expained on his flaws so much, and i have only read a little of books so i dont know if it is the same. Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. and Sean Astin as Samwise. and i think this was Seans best movies, yes Rudy was good, but he really seemed like a great actor in these movies. so now that i said that, heres my thoughts of the movies. They are good, Return of the King i think is the best in the series. and they are all very well acted, im really looking forward to Del Toros Hobbit movie, hes my favorite director so im stoked.

4.The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford: by Ron Hansen, directed by Andrew Dominik
im not a huge fan of westerns, i only like a hand full, and one of them will be coming up on the list. the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford is a long movie, close to 3hours. but i really never thought it was boring. its about Robert Ford (casey affleck) who becomes obsessed with Jesse James (brad pitt). he is constently trying to be in his gang, and to be close to him. it seems as if Robert was in some way in love with Jesse. but not in that way, more like he idolize him to the point of stalking maybe. this movie is extremely well acted, casey won best supporting actor for it. again i havnt read the book, but from what i have heard it is one of the most accurate books about Jesse James and Robert Ford. the obsession robert has with jesse leds to the very good ending. yes its long, but if you sit and just watch what is going on, you will see a great modern western.

3. 3:10 to Yuma by Elmore Leonard, directed by James Mangold
so heres the other western.  this isnt the 1957 version of Elmore Leonard's short story, the one i am talking about is the 2007 version. it stares Christian Bale (this is my favorite movie with him in it), as Dan Evens, a down on the luck farmer who cant pay his debt. and Russell Crowe as Ben Wade, a outlaw who is a badass. So basicly Ben Wade is captured, and no one will take him to his 3:10 to Yuma train. Dan Evens agrees to do it, he does it so he can pay his debt. as he goes along doing it, Wades gang tries to kill Evens and his group to get Wade back. after that, there is a good amount of action, some great shootouts, including the last scene which is done so well, and really shows the respect Evens has gotten from Wade. It ends with a big moral choice by Wade, and its good stuff. I really like the way it was shot, its dirty and grimmy, just like the west should be. while it tells a great story, it goes away from like The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford, which had no action, and 3:10 to Yuma has a far share of it.

2. Watchmen by Alan Moore, directed by Zack Snyder
so heres the first one on the list that i actually read. its about an alternate timeline, where masked men and woman fight crime. it takes place aroud the cold war. its about The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who was killed by someone, and that sparks Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) to reunite with his group to find out who is killing them off. its a very very deep comic and the movies does a great job with it. a ton of people said that it cant be made into a movie because of its complexity, but Zack Snyder does the best job with it then anyone could. he stays sooooo true with that comic. for about half of the 2:45 hour movie its almost word for word with the comic, and shows identical scenes as well. the acting is amazing as well, and Jackie Earle Haley better win an award of his role as Rorschach, no one could have done it better. and i think he makes Rorschach a more insane guy then Heath Ledger did with the Joker. the art style is fantastic, and i still think the ending of both are still chilling.

1. Gone Baby Gone by Dennis Lehane, directed by Ben Affleck
and here we are my favorite movie that was based on a book, and its Gone Baby Gone. Ben Afflecks directoral debut. and he does a great job, even if i hate him. but casey affleck is my favorite actor so i had to give it a look. and i was shocked. this is so well done, the acting is great. its great by Casey and its great all the way down to Edi Gathegi who plays a man named Cheese. so its about Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and his girlfriend Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan) who are kinda like detectives, they really dont go into detail about it, but they are called to look for a little girl who has went missing. Patrick is kinda a badass, he knows how to get info. but he is also a flawed character, he has morals, and those morals come in big time at the end of the movie. hes constently clashing with Detective Sergeant Remy Bressant (Ed Harris), says they are "kids playing cop". so in the end result, this movie has a great story that is told great, it really shows how peoples morals come through even in the worst of times. and probaby my favortie line from the movie, its what Cheese says when Patrick asks him if he has the kid, "I don't fuck with no kids. And if that girl only hope is you, well, I pray for her, because she's gone, baby. Gone." you gotta love when they use the title of the movie in the movie itself.

so thats my list, yes i know its a odd thing to write about, but most of my favorite movies are based on books, so id thought id share. and soon ill be writting a blog about my favorite movies, that arnt based on books.

blah blah blah

so ive been on giantbomb for about two months now and ive gotten to be pretty compfertable on this site, so im going to attempt to say a little on what is going on in the world of me. im not going to say like "hi im 17" blah blah blah because its kinda late for a introduction. im a verrrrrry quiet kid, im surprised i have 223 post on this site, because i am constenly nervous about what you all will think of me. and damnit that is my problem. im so quiet all the time, i barly talk in school, and when i do people tell me to shut it. the principals dont even know my name and half of my grade doesnt even know my name. i really do appreciate how in some of my blogs you guys have been very nice, and id like to thank you. i do wish thought that i could get more involved with this site, but i can never seem to get the right subjects going.

i bother myself, i am constenly nervous about everything, i stutter when i get nervous and crap like that, and the said thing is that i get nervous around my own family. how big of a loser am i. people think they make great jokes about me because of my last name, which is extremly easy to make fun of. the only thing i am good at is bowling, which is sad, because what good is that, if i was good in math, science things like that i could make something of myself. and because i like bowling you wont believe what crap i get for it. i do also get made fun of for the stuttering as well. its because of these things i stay quiet most of the time.

but for the most part, i try to keep positive thought, i do not show to my friends that i am depressed, if i were to say that to them they wouldnt have seen that coming. and even though nothing goes good for me, i try to keep happy, i lost my first girlfriend a couple of months ago, and i was pretty lost at that point, and none of my family tried to help me through it, and they knew about it, but i pulled myself from it. but even though i got myself out of that, i still feel like a worthless piece of shit over it, when she broke up with me i felt worthless.

im sorry if this blog makes no sence, im just trying to say a few things that i needed to get off my chest, and this was the first time i have mentioned anything about my break up with anyone. which i know most of you dont give a shit about me or anything like that, and dont care about what is going on in my life, but i guess i need someone to atleast listen, even if you just opened it and skim though it. and i know i dont write the best blogs.

so if you thought this was boring maybe this video will atleast spark some interest, its my favorite band Tv on the Radio (please dont make this the main topic if you write a comment)

preparing for my last year

so i bowl. i dont know if many of you on the site do. or if anyone on the site really cares about it. and thats ok, i understand that bowling is not the most popular sport out there. ive been bowling for only about four years, im a junior in high school right now, and i started in 8th grade. my dad has worked at my towns bowling center, which oddly enough is called The Bowling Center, for about 30 years. and i started working there about two years ago. so ive been around bowling all my life. when i got to high school i joined the high school bowling team. we had two seniors, and me and 4 other kids on my grade. i was the third best bowling that year (it was only my second year bowling at the time). but my favorite moment my from my last three years is this.

freshmen:
we were at our sectional game doing baker bowling (baker bowling is when one bowler bowls in the 1st and 6th frame, second bowler bowls in the 2nd and 7th frame and etc, you want you best to bowlers in the 4th and 5th spots). and as a freshmen, my coach at the time put me in the 5th spot as a freshmen! he took the seniors out (who were much better then me at the time) and put the freshmen in who only had two years of experience. we won i believe two or three games with me in the 5th spot. we beat the team (who slaughtered us early in the week). that was a great day.

sophomore:
so i finished with the third best avg on my team freshmen year. i worked my ass off that summer, trying to be the best i could be. and i did, i raised my avg from a 150 to a 180 in just one summer. when tryouts came around i shot the 2nd best series out of every bowler in the county that tried out for bowling. we had two new coaches that year, one was my dad who coached JV, and the other, was a friend of my dads, he coached varsity, which is what i was on. from the get go i was easily the best on the team. but the varsity coach didnt notice at all, he was all focused on the other guys, even though my avg was 20 pins highier then everyone else he ignored me. one of the kids he focused on was our lone senior, who was a total dick! he thought he was the shit, and easily thought he was better then me. at one practice i called him out and he almost quit. but one thing that year that pissed me off was that in the same sectional style as i stated above, we bowled one of the best teams in the state. and i was kicking ass. i stuck on 15 of my 20 shots. and had 5 spares. but our coach did not put me in the 5th spot, he put our senior in that spot because he kept bitching because he wasnt bowling in the 5th spot, and he sucked that day. we could have had a chance if i bowled the 5th spot but no. but i did have the last laugh, because in the sectional singles, i finished 6th out of 100 varsity bowlers. he didnt even crack the top 30. i finished that year with a 190 avg. 26 pins high then my freshmen year.

junior:
we had the same coaches this year. and to tell the truth, i liked this year. i had more fun, the coach respected me more. and i dominated. i had my first winning record this year, which i believe, i was 7 and 7, ok its not a winning recored, but that brings my total recored to 17.5-28.5 overall. i didnt have to deal with the asshole i had to deal with last year, so that made me happy. but one thing that was weird about this year, was that my coach would pull me aside and tell me how good of a job i did in that match, but he would never say it infront of the rest of the team, i dont understand that. i was very good this year, my avg was about 28 pins high then the rest of the team, again my avg was 190 this year. again another story from the sectional baker games, we were bowling in that again, and my coach took me out of the 5th spot to have me rest and to try out some of the other bowlers in the spot. we go KILLED that game, and after it my coach came up to me and said "ill never take you out again". this year i finished 4th out of 100 varsity bowlers, and i got a medal. yet i am disappointed because i know i could have done better, this should be the best moment in my bowling career, but i will always think of that lose.

so i am entering my senior year next year, and it will be my last year bowling in high school. i will miss it, and i am hoping to do better next year. i will spend most of the summer practicing, and i only have to pay 25 cents a game because i work there! heres some info about my bowling

my bowling idle: tommy jones

this is him after bowling a 300 in the weber cup, which is kinda like the world cup of bowling
this is him after bowling a 300 in the weber cup, which is kinda like the world cup of bowling

he has won PBA player of the year, PBA rookie of the year, (only 3 have won both rookie and player of the year, he was the 2nd ever to do that up until this year) hes won about 14 titles, including the U.S Open. he is only 30 and he is eligable for the hall of fame (you get that by winning 10 titles) heres a video of bowling a 300 in the weber cup, they all freak out because it was a huge win for the U.S., Europe was winning in the standings, and he led them to the Weber Cup championship for the 2nd straight year. he was also apart of the US Bowling team that won gold at the bowlings version of the olympics.

i throw storm equipment, their bowling balls smell, they put a scent on the for some reason. i have about $2000 worth of bowling equipment. my second idle would be my dad, hes helped me become the bowler that i am today, and i know he wouldnt admit it ever, but im getting better then him.

i plan to go to Vincennes University and bowl there. they have one of the best bowling programs in indiana, so ill have to step up my game. and Shawn Marion of the Toronto Raptors went there so its kinda famous.

Burnout Paradise: My First Racing Game

so i bought burnout paradise today, for a awesome 20 bucks! i got it after watching the quick looks on the site and finding myself rather impressed by way the game looked.

alright so this is my first racing game i have every played. and dear god do i suck! i do find this game to be rather challenging because of its rather fast speed. i can do the road rage challenges with ease, im very good at those, but the races are what kill me, i lose track of where to go and i miss exits, but practice should help me get better at that. i like how they give you the crappiest car known to man to start out with, i dont mean that as a joke. it gives you a sence of accomplishment when as you work your way up to fast and better cars. and to get new cars you can "hunt" them down and take them down to get them. a side effect of that is after you take them down, when you go to get them at the junk yard, they are beaten up. so its a win lose kinda deal. i dont have a huge selection of cars right now, i only have about four unlocked.

and i cant stress enough about how good this soundtrack is, guns and roses, faith no more, alice and chains, army of me, N.E.R.D, and a good amount more of some rather good bands, some of them are crap i think, but they dont weigh done the music at all. most games that i have played with a soundtrack (most of them are sports games) they have some bad music on them. the last game i played and i loved the music was fallout 3. i enjoyed that music.

crashes are very good, as what people expect from burnout. ive seen people play it before, but i have never played it myself (as the title says) and i have noticed that it is very crash happy. criterion does a great job on the crashes, parts fly off, cars cave in, they flip, turn, and things like that. but something that i did really like is the overall

sence of freedom, you dont have to do the missions, races things like that. this game allows you to do whatever you want. you can spend an hour just racing through the town to see what is in Paradise. they also give you about 400 gates and about 40 billboards to crash into. i really like these, they are fun and very challenging sence you tend to miss a good amount and you have to track them down, and getting to them can be challenging. i have played a GRID demo, and i am thinking on going and getting that game now.

i really overlooked racing games. they always turned me off, i thought of them as nascar games copys, as if they were all like the nascar games. thats a dumb move on my part. there are three racing games that i really like so far GRID, DIRT 2, FUEL, those all look great. and if they are all like burnout paradise racing games might become one of my top favorite genres.

i never thought id say that

i must like terrible music

it seems as like most of my favorite bands are very popular with people i know. well first heres a list of my favorite bands

  • tv on the radio
  • coldplay
  • you me and everyone we know
  • jet
  • gorillaz
  • forgive durden
  • ludo

ok so those are my favorite bands..heres what i think of them all

tv on the radio
they have to be the most original band out there right now. and yet everyone seems to pass on them. their last two albums have been in the top 5 on metacritics best reviewed albums, and rolling stones voted their album Dear Science album of the year for 2008. i just like their rap/rock mix, the two lead singers switch between eachother nicely, and their songs are soooooooooo well written, everyone of them sounds different

coldplay
they are my 2nd favorite british band, i like their soft rock tone, and most of friends hate them because of chris martins voice, my friends suck

you me and everyone we know
yes they dont really do anything new, but they do things well, the lead singer sounds a little to much like Panic at the Discos lead singer, and plus they sell their albums for free, you never have to pay a dime to listen to them

jet
yes they do sound a lot like older bands like ac/dc. but i like their music, its well written, and you can tell they influence they got from ac/dc and kiss by having most of their music have sexual innuendos in them

gorillaz
my favorite british band, their lead singer used to be in Blur, Whoa Hooo, but they really do a great job in song writting, their song slow country is written greatly, and most of the songs in Demon Days are very original

forgive durden
they are the same as you me and everyone we know, they dont do anything new, but what they do do is done well, i think their best song is Ants, its written great, and their newest album, i didnt like because its a musical opera or somthing. but they are a good band to check out if you like cute is what we aim for, or any of the Fueled By Ramen bands

ludo
o no band mixes humor into music better then these guys, thats why i love them, they also have some great guitar solos, for example in their song Good Will Hunting By Myself and Love Me Dead, their are well written solos

so those are my favorite bands, but saidly, no one else seems to like them, ive been made fun of for liking ludo and coldplay, and i dont think that is very cool..as you can tell i have crappy friends, but if any of you have heard of them, let me know what you think of them, ill be glad to know im not the only one that likes apparently "odd" music

stepping into a new genre

so i just bought tales of vesperia on tuesday. this is my first JRPG, and pretty much my first RPG, if you count Fallout 3 then itll be my second. and im very impressed. this is my first "Tales" game, i dont know if people call them the Tales series. but i have heard very good things about the series so i decided to give it a try.

i really like how you can control your own guy during a battle, but this also kinda messes up at times. im often swinging at no one, not cause i aimed that way, but that my guy moved that way on his own? i dont know, and i often loose track of my guy, you play as Yuri, when theres a good amount of fighting going on. speaking of fighting, i really like how there was no drop of framerate when you get a lot of enemys at once. i struggled so hard in the first boss battle, i died i dont know how many times. i was kinda surprised by how hard the first boss was, but i also didnt have any things to restore my health and i do tend to suck.

i do like the story, and the absolutly solid voice acting helps move it along great, i like the little interactions between the characters. you bring these up with the select button. they do seem a tad unnecessary, but at times can be very funny. which is also something that surprised me, this game has a good amount of humor in it. i was expecting a serious game, i mean it is serious but the humor helps ease things up.

the art style is great also, they really did a great job with the cel-shading. and the music is great as well. im sure many of the things i find great in this game most of you will find average, since this is my first JRPG so this all is new to me. from what i have heard, this game is like 40hrs-60hrs, yes thats a big difference but Gametrailers says its 40hrs and X-Play said it is 60hrs, so im guessing its somewhere in there.

for the first time in a long time, im looking forward to playing a game for a long period of time. and from what i can tell now, this game will more then definitely give me my $55 worth.

im thinking about buying more JRPGs or just any RPG, i also bought Infinite Undiscovery, but havnt played it yet. feel free to add any JRPGs or RPGs that you think i should check out

my top 5

ok i when it comes to graphics i like the more cartoonish style. i would pick Prince of Perisa (2008) over Killzone 2 if i was getting a game souly based on its graphics (which i dont do). I know most people would think of this as a dumb thing. I feel as if a cartoonish style has an advantage over, lets say a more "real" style of graphics. It helps set the mood of a game, i dont think Prince of Persia could have looked as good as it did, if it was done in the style of like Killzone 2 or Gears of War. I guess i should say what i consider a cartoonish style. for me i think games like Prince of Persia, Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia, that type of style i consider cartoonish. Some people might have a different interpretation of that. What i think is not a cartoonish style is like the Final Fantasy games things of that nature. And for the real styles, id consider Gears of War, Killzone 2 those are examples of what i think are a more real style of graphics.

now on to my main point of this blog, my top 5 games that i think have the best graphics, and remember this is all my opinion im not saying they are the best ever:

5. Afro Samurai:
in my review for this game i called it game of the year, its really early to tell that, but i really like this game, and hell i think i might be the only one. but one of the things i really like about it was its art style. its looked great. it looked straight out of the manga (that if the manga had color, the manga is in black and white) but the models looked straight from the manga at least. The way the blood fell to the ground and they way it looked was great. and having the blood be red in the "focus mode" is also a nic touch.

4. Valkyria Chronicles:
Im not going to lie, but i have not played this game. mainly cause i do not own a ps3, but i will soon, and this will surly be the first game i get for it. Simply put the art style is beautiful. From what i have seen in screenshots and from the quick look on the site (which might be one of my favorites) my jaw droped. I love the way you can see the strokes of the pencil in the cut scenes and in the game itself. i pretty much hate war type games, the only one i have ever liked was Battlefield: Bad Company. If they made more war games with a style like this i would get it. One of the things i kinda dont like about war games is how they try to be to real, but with games like Valkyria Chronicles, which adds a more fantasy element to the war genre, itd make them more enjoyable for me.

3. Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros Treasure:
This in my opinion is the best looking game on the wii. I have a wii, and have about 9 games for it. And all of them have this hazy, maybe choppy style to them. But in Zack and Wiki its so sharp. I would compare the style to the new game Fat Princess. Its almost the same. The colors are bright and beautiful. I think if you tell someone its a psn game people would believe it for sure. Im saying itd be a psn game, because its a great looking game, but i dont think it would match up graphicly to other ps3 games. Now this game has some of the best clouds i have ever seen in a game. Yes itd win "the best cloud award" if there was such a thing. Fire looks great, characters looks great. Its something i wouldnt expect to come from a wii game. Its truly stunning.

2. Battlefield: Bad Company:
Probably my favorite War game. The thing that really got me into this game was its humor. But i also found the visuals to be very great. Now a reason this looks so great, might be that great Frostbite engine that the folks over at DICE made. You roll into a small town, and it looks like how a normal town would. Then you start a battle, then you throw some bombs, gun fire and some tanks in there and what you see after is stunning. Buildings are for the most part gone, rubble lay everywhere the smoke clearing after you just blew through a wall. Shadows work great also. The characters are pretty well detailed. It has a great sence of distance also, looking down from a cliff to a village you can tell the distance. Also this game does explostions better then anyone else. This is my favorite war game for a reason. Its fun. Now blowing things to hell has been done before. But making it look good to, now that takes skill.

1. Prince of Persia:

I love this game. I dont know if can stress that enough. The visual style of it just blew me away. You can tell the guys at Ubisoft Montreal worked their asses off on trying to make this game look good. And it also is kinda a refreshing to the franchise, which the last two games were dark and grimmy. The draw distances are amazing, you can tell that things in the distance are big, yet beautiful. Characters are the best i have seen in a long time. A ton of detail was put into them. Yes ill admit, i thought some things like walls and floors were alittle iffy, but other then that not problems at all. You can really tell the difference between the light and the dark regions of the game. When you do heal the lands, the sun really makes things more sharp and look stunning. Grass blows in the wind, your clothes move correctly with you.  The animations are pretty good also, they dont look choppy. I really cant truly discribe it, you have to play it to get the full experience.

welp there it is my list

some honorable mentions
Fat Princess- yes its not out yet but dear god, it looks soo good
Fallout 3- has the end of the world ever looked this good?, the land and buildings look so dirty, yet so beautiful
F.E.A.R 2- this game has the best looking blood ever

i think im finally giving in

ok, i always thought of myself as a microsoft guy. i really never liked the marketing that the ps3 did, i think they were a little "bragish", so i really tried to stick with a 360. most of my friends who had a ps3 or who have played a ps3 always bragged to me about it, and i got annoyed. so in the mean time, i got a wii, i wanted a new system. but that was kinda a bad idea. so im thinking about selling my wii and all the games for it, to try to get a ps3. now the reason im doing this is because, the games for the ps3 are looking really good. for some odd reason after watching the Fat Princess Quick Look, i really want to play that game, and that might be the first thing i get for the ps3, that is if i do end up getting it. Also Infamous looks great, Killzone 2 as well. Now i think at gamestop you can get a ps3 for about 400 bucks, and thats for a 80GB. Which is more memory then my 360, which has 60GB. Now i work at my local bowling center, and make around 25 cents above min wage and work maybe 20hrs a week, and i am losing hrs, because the summer is coming and they dont need help in the summer, so to get the $400 bucks i am hoping to sell my wii.

heres what i am selling:

  • Sam and Max
  • Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • No More Heroes
  • Zack and Wiki
  • Raving Rabbids 2
  • Guitar Hero 4 (with full kit, drums/guitar/mic/and sticks)
  • De Blob
  • Wii Sports
  • Wii Play
  • 2 controllers
  • 2 nunchucks
  • obviously the wii console
  • and charging kit for the controllers

now all of that is equal to about 400-450 bucks, which what im hoping to sell it for, that might be a tad big price for it all but i really need that money, not just to buy a ps3, but also money for the summer, since i wont be working. i do feel really dumb for judging the ps3 like that, if i do end up getting a ps3,  i really hope i enjoy it and that it proves my judgments wrong

lost planet 2

i usually dont get excited about new releases when it comes to video games. when a new game comes out or i read about a new game coming out soon, i usually just dont get all hyped up over them. there has been a couple of games though that i have gotten excited over:
  1. prince of persia
  2. afro samurai
  3. fallout 3

thats only three games that i can think of that i bought right when they came out, i know i bought prince of perisa the day it came out and the others a week or so into them being released....and for the first time since probably fallout 3, i am really looking forward to a new game, that game would be Lost Planet 2.

i am really not a fan of Capcom, yes sue me i get a lot of crap for that, but their games dont appeal to me very often, i am not a fan of the resident evil series, which for that i have been called not a true gamer, which i dont see how not liking a series makes you not a true gamer..resident evil 4 was ok, but i cant say i enjoyed it, yes the story was very well done, but i thought the gameplay wasnt as good as it could have been, but back on subject, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was a pretty good game, but how i felt about resident evil 4 i also felt the same for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, but its kinda reversed..i didnt like the story in Lost Plant, it didnt make much sence really, but the gameplay was fantastic, and of course the graphics are still some of the best out there right now, to try and back up what i just said about the graphics heres a comparison between Lost Planet and, well lets stick with Capcom and compare it to its newest game Resident Evil 5, which also has pretty good graphics

ok so what i am so excited about is that this game looks amazing for one (as seen in the picture, im making all the pics big to show the detail).
example of what this game will look like
example of what this game will look like

but this game could look like real life, but if the story is bad it will mostly be crap, and thats what i am a tad worried about with this game. from what i have heard it is about snow pirates, like the first, but it is showing how they fight to survive E.D.N.III, the planet where this game is played. i hope this isnt just another "revenge" story like the first, i dont know why they really gave it a story, basicly you just shoot things to stay alive, good enough for me. i would really like to see a really strong story in Lost Planet 2 to go along with what looks some really interesting gameplay. maybe like they are all finally starting to come together, not fighting one other for the thermal energy. or maybe a story where they find out that killing the akrid is killing the planet. i dont know those are a few ideas i thought of.
the ability to grapple onto enemies is a pretty nice addition. if anyone has read the OXM or Game Informer previews of this then you will know that you can enter the akrid that you see in the trailers for the game, which in doing that it helps the people on the outside fight it, and take it down faster. now since i just said that, that means this game is not single player, its 4 player co-op. you can play online with friends or by yourself with a computer controlling your guys.

you dont play as wayne in this game, you play as, well you, i guess that is a way to explain it. you get to customize your guys to your liking, i hope the customizing goes deep into detail, and im not sure, but you can probably enter your own name if you want to. i also think the "portable shield" is pretty nice, sence i thought that in the first game it was hard to get away from a blast or gunfire, you could hide behind walls, but it seemed like they could have done better with that. and BAM here it is with the additon of the shield. Also, in some areas your thermal energy will not be effected as much. If you are in a icy environment, then your thermal energy will begin to go down. But say you are in a jungle or a warmer environment, you will lose little or no thermal energy in those places. This is different from the first game, where you were losing energy constantly.

this is by far my longest blog, and im sure most of you are bored, im just very excited about this game. and from the image above and others that i have seen, i think this is the "Killzone 2 for the Xbox 360". this game will show what the 360 can do, just like Killzone 2 showed what the ps3 could do..and here are two final screens to show the difference between them, i think they both look stunning, you decide
