Two pioneering bands, both had huge influences in Rock music. I've been listening to these two bands in particular a lot over the last few days, and i'm interested to see which band Giantbomb prefers. Nevermind and Use Your Illusion were released in the same year, and both highly acclaimed in their own rights, so the bands were pretty much in direct competition and targeting the same audience. Nirvana broke a lot of taboos in rock music, whereas Guns N Roses were still making powerful, epic rock music that felt at home more in the 80's. But I don't think that was neccesarily I bad thing.
For me, Guns N Roses appeals more, while I greatly appreciate Nirvana's style, I find that GNR highs were higher, November Rain perhaps being GNR best achievement.
Epic and over the top sum up this video. One of the best songs of the 90's. From 7:00 onwards, HOLY FUCK THAT SHIT IS EPIC.
While it definately isn't 'epic', this is easily a more pioneering and timeless video.
There is no 'better' band, just preferred.

I currently go to College, 5 days a week, 6AM-6PM. When I get back i'm exhausted, irritable and hungry like a beast. My Mum is currently unemployed, and is a good cook (when she wants to be), however, she seems to think that me asking for food is the epitomey of rudeness, and has not cooked food for over a month. We live in a tiny village, with no takeaways, and the nearest grocery store is a 40 minute drive. There is NEVER any ingredients at home, and I almost always end up eating beans on toast for supper/tea. I guess I expect her to buy ingredients during the day when i'm at College and make me some food when I get back, am I stupid to think this?
So, I just had a 2 hour conversation with her, her agent, my friend and a fan of hers.
Basically, my friend invites me into the conversation, I see the name, get suspicious, but sure enough, it's her.
I firstly came out clean that I am more of a Lost man myself, but did enjoy the first season of Heroes. There really isn't much else to talk about, she seems like a nice person, but I felt guilty that I was talking to her whilst some of her biggest fans would kill to get the opportunity.
Random, I know, but that's what blogs are for, right?
According to industry sources, 20th Century Fox really want Neil Marshall to direct the upcoming franchise reboot, and I for one, think this could be a really good idea.
Marshall directed the stunning 2005 survival horror, The Descent, and the excellent action horror Dog Soldiers back in 2002. As well as Predator, there are also rumours of Marshall directing Alien 5, which would really work, again, The Descent is highly comparable to Alien and most likely heavily inspired by it(what decent horror film hasn't been?). So with the source material in his grasp, i'm sure Marshall could return the Alien franchise to its bleak, disturbing roots.
So it seems Fox are actually treating these reboots with the respect they need, respect that has been lacking in recent years. There are a few that excelled their expectations, Dawn Of The Dead, Hills Have Eyes to name but two, but generally it has been a horrible few years for hardcore horror fans, their beloved franchises helplessly whored out.
The Descent was survival horror perfection. The Descent is one of the best horror films of all time, Marshall has already shown he can do gritty action horror, so would seem the obvious choice for this project.
For me, Dawn Of The Dead showed that not only can a remake match it's predecessor, but surpass it, which gives me hope for this project. AVP 1+2 were generic MEH, far from both the franchises defining and terrifying roots. There is a glimmer of hope then, for the impending Alien and Predator reboots.
Today I got my Samsung HD-TV back from repairs, and downloaded the Killzone 1.27 patch.
My fears when I first heard of this patch is that it would ruin the realism and gritiness of Killzone, but it seems Guerilla have managed to remove the acceleration whilst still retaining some of the realism that the original controls have. They just feel brilliant now. The assault class, which was often disabled in clan games due to gross overpowering has been rightfully nerfed, and spawn protection removed.
The game is just flawless now, the game looks breath-taking in HD, Guerilla act quickly on patches and partake in their community, and not to mention the frequent DLC support.
I'm highly anticipating what Guerilla do next, and fully welcome a Killzone 3.
My mother is a strict Christian and reacted in a similiar way when I told her I did not believe in God, i'm curious to see how other peoples parents reacted (i'm assuming the majority of GB'ers are atheists with religious parents here, large assumption, I know). I'm looking for a discussion here, not a Religion vs Atheism flame war.
P.S There was a version without the keyboard cat, but this is way cooler.
Well, yesterday I went to see The Lord Of The Rings performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Howard Shore was there ( composer of the LOTR music) and it was just generally awesome. They had this big-ass HD projector which was playing the film, and the orchestra and choir replaced the in film music.
Me and my Dad left at around 11: 30 PM, and got on a 19 bus back to Islington (which is in London). About half way there, we saw this 4X4 pull up outside one of these posh-looking clubs, and about 30 men with cameras literally POUNCED towards the car, this tall blonde women got out of the car, she had this weird silver thing in her hair. One of her bodyguards/boyfriends tried to push them back but he ended up getting shoved to the floor and looked REALLY pissed off. It was really intense, I was seriously thinking that she might get epilepsy from the flash photography. She actually looked pretty hot to be honest.
I found a picture from one of the photographers this morning.
