Neil Marshall, basically.
According to industry sources, 20th Century Fox really want Neil Marshall to direct the upcoming franchise reboot, and I for one, think this could be a
really good idea.

Best.Werewolf.Film.Ever.
Marshall directed the stunning 2005 survival horror, The Descent, and the excellent action horror Dog Soldiers back in 2002.
As well as Predator, there are also rumours of Marshall directing Alien 5, which would really work, again, The Descent is highly comparable to Alien and most likely heavily inspired by it(what decent horror film hasn't been?). So with the source material in his grasp, i'm sure Marshall could return the Alien franchise to its bleak, disturbing roots.

Depressing, disturbing and unforgettable use of the Alien. Exactly what AVP lacked.
So it seems Fox are actually treating these reboots with the respect they need, respect that has been lacking in recent years. There are a few that excelled their expectations, Dawn Of The Dead, Hills Have Eyes to name but two, but generally it has been a horrible few years for hardcore horror fans, their beloved franchises helplessly whored out.

The Ribena swimming pool was in high demand.
The Descent was survival horror perfection. The Descent is one of the best horror films of all time, Marshall has already shown he can do gritty action horror, so would seem the obvious choice for this project.
For me, Dawn Of The Dead showed that not only can a remake match it's predecessor, but surpass it, which gives me hope for this project. AVP 1+2 were generic MEH, far from both the franchises defining and terrifying roots.
There is a glimmer of hope then, for the impending Alien and Predator reboots.
