A story is nothing without the amazing  atomsphere and good gameplay.

Secondly- most games have amazing potential for great stories but the games developers havent got a clue how to write a good story (because they are all nerds).  Take halo for example. THe first game was excellent and had everything a game needs, but they had to completely fuck it all up in the sequals. The game got way too gamey and childish, whereas combat evolved was serious and had a meaning.

Max Payne- THe story in that is ridiculously good. And its backed up by the other things gameplay wise.

Developers need to realise players need a reason to play the game and carry on. They want to be "hooked" on the game and have a feeling like they must finish it and have to know what happens next. Many games for me dont achieve this anymore. THe last game that did this to me was probably half life 2 -the orange box.

Its just funny that vinny said it then, and when he heard about the e3 bloke avatar thingy, on the bombcasts he was always going on about it. He was always saying it.

I wonder if he even remebers saying it back on button mashing.

I cant wait for Mass Effect 2. They will be correcting and improving on everything that was wrong with the first. One of the problems I had in Mass Effect was the A.I was terrible in fights, and the fights were a bit boring. Also the different planets were not planets at all. Just an excuse for the same designed building to be placed in the middle so you can complete a side quest or find some useless garbage which you dont need cause u can already buy everything 50 times over with the amount of money u collect.

If they fix these I think they are on to a winner. Dare I say it a perfect game. Much like ocarina of time. THe story is going to be darker.

The only thing which annoys me in these types of games although i have yet to play fallout 3 is the way (choices or decisions) are portrayed. IMO they are supposed to drastically change the way the game pans out.  But In Mass Effect the onyl real thing I saw of this nature was near the end where I killed the council lol and made humans rule the galaxy.  There wasnt really any other significant decisions I had to make before this which would really IMPACT the game in a significant way.

Games need to start creating real tree like branches in the story. They also need to find a way to make the side-quests seem worthwhile and also make them interlink into the story somehow. FOr example if i choose to not take on a side quest bad Shizzle should happen to those people and i would regret it. This would in turn create another pivot in the main storyline.

Imagine if a good company like valve got hold of sonic. They would make it actually have a deep and meaningful and dark story. WIth a great sense of speed over fantastic environments and landscapes.
