Insurance is risk/reward, it's a gamble and not a life necessity. First and foremost it's a business and their goal is to make money, all they are is a bunch of statistician's and lawyer's. Why is the world so opposed to difference? When we're little we get told that we are all special and different, when you grow up they tell you to treat everyone the same. We should all embrace our strengths and weaknesses because they make us who we are.
Sure women may pay more for health insurance and has been repeated in this forum a million times over, men pay more for car insurance. Can woman control being a woman? No. Can a man control being a man? No. Men are overall more aggressive behind the wheel that's true, can they control it? To some extent, but isn't it our hormones that influence this behavior? Woman use health insurance more than men(Or at least that's the case being presented) can they control it? To some extent(Men are less likely to go to the doctor when sick or for check-ups). Also they do more check-ups maybe because of risk factors or hormones (Because for better or for worse who get's concerned more about health?).
Is it a slippery slope? They are in the business of finding risk factors and accounting for that in the cost. Don't like it?
1.Vote with your money
2.Make men use the doctor more to increase their cost
3.Make woman use the doctor less to decrease their cost
4. Combination of 2/3
Forcing insurance companies to charge everyone the same amount will only end with them charging more money to everyone. Don't turn anyone away from insurance and the whole business model falls apart.......unless it's government "health care".........I don't even want to talk about that......
