Games I've played in 2010

I love playing games. I noticed that I had a lot of games that I started playing and not finished. Being a completionist and a perfectionist (which is a couple of my major failings), I decided to concentrate on playing some of my older games in a bid to finish them. Here is what I've played in 2010.

List items

  • I had been playing this for a few months solid and was still playing this at the start of the year. I played this when it came out and got reasonably far before I stopped. Started playing it again to find that EA had switched off the online tournaments, making that achievement unobtainable. Angry is a mild word to describe my feelings on that.

  • I played this a couple of times and found a good guy who helped me get the online achievements. The online is pretty much dead at this point and this game really needs other players as the AI aren't that much fun.

  • It was around the turn of the year that my Xbox 360 died. With the majority of my games on the 360, it was quite the blow. I consoled myself by switching to the PS3 and playing through Uncharted. Again, another game I hadn't finished. Finished the story mode and got the majority of the trophies. Will go back and get the remaining ones at some point.

  • Another PS3 game to help through the 360less period. I'm a big racing game fan and I finished the game off. The lack of credits means I don't have the F1 car yet but I'll work on that another time.

  • I had borrowed and completed this game on the original Xbox. After a lot of Tiger Woods play, I needed a change and Tomb Raider Legend was just right. There isn't a lot to the game and it isn't that difficult, even the majority of the challenges are fairly simple. Finished the Legend part of the achievements really quickly. Shame this adds the Anniversary downloads and achievements as part of the game though.

  • Another project of mine from 2009, 2010 meant a concerted effort to finish the game. I only had a few platinums to get and the online career to finish. With a few angry moments and some good people online, I successfully finished this game.

  • One of my personal favourite games of 2009, I went for the remaining achievements. Plenty of hours later, it was all done. Still got a few of the master challenges left but the achievements side is all done.

  • I was pleased to have finished the online achievements in 2009 and I put this game away for a bit. Picked it back up after I finished PGR3 and went through the main career mode and most of the arcade. My perfectionist nature makes this game particularly difficult to finish. I have the Platinum Plus and 2 platinums to get in the Arcade mode to finish this game. Evil game to finish.

  • I had finished the main story whenever this game came out. I forget when that was. I read a news story that EA were shutting down the leaderboards so I figured I'd just finish the remaining achievements. After a whole bunch of searching for items in the levels and Springfield and a whole load of speed runs through levels, the achievements were all done.

  • Played a bit of this when it came out but it was mostly time trial stuff. I decided to put some time in and play this game. It can get pretty tricky, especially when you are after perfection in a closely fought Championship. Really pleased when I got all the achievements for it though.

  • I had this on my profile for a while thanks to me accidentally being logged in when my brother was going to play it when we only had 1 360 at the time. Some of the level 8 challenges in the game are really hard but I finished the single player. The multiplayer looks time consuming so I haven't started that yet.

  • I had finished the main story a while ago and my niece likes seeing Sonic running around so I thought I'd load up my game and have him run around a bit. Picked up some more achievements and will go back to it again to finish that off at some point.

  • This is a game I hold dear to my heart as it was the game that started off my love affair with games. I had completed it a number of times on a number of systems and I can now chalk up another completion - this time on the 360.

  • Been playing this off and on, chipping away at the achievements. Just got the multiplayer and the Heart Attack achievement left really.

  • Every so often, I feel like taxing my brain with a few games of Hexic. I managed to get the 3 black pearls together but the 6 still eludes me. I will succeed though.

  • All was going well until the F3000 series. Those cars have no grip particularly under acceleration. I still have some bonus cars to unlock but the single player achievements are finished. Just the time consuming multiplayer left.

  • The offline/update trick worked well for the glitched Gotta Drive them all achievement and I polished off the single player reasonably quickly. It took about 20 hours of online racing to finish the game off.

  • My hatred of EA policy as regards server switch offs forced me into playing this. About 2 thirds through the game and there have been a few frustrating parts. I found out that this was a Games on Demand game, which means it might survive the server switch off for a while.

  • I did play Forza 2 this year, although it doesn't say so on my stats here. I finished the game last year fully and it usually just me and a mate racing in split screen.

  • I've played this on the 360 and the DS. Not so much on the 360 though. I've noticed that the 360 version is harder that the DS.

  • Someone rather nicely gave this game as a gift on Steam. Not played much of it as yet. Seems like there are a fair few nods to the first game, which I've never played.

  • When I'm in the mood and I have a few hours free, a bit of music and FM 2010 are a perfect combination. I usually play as some rubbish team, which can be fun and frustrating.

  • My mate was struggling to beat the final boss so I showed him how easy it was. I then showed him how to get all 7 emeralds in the first 2 acts of the game.

  • My niece like the little doggy in the Frisbee game so I've played that a few times. Was getting pretty good at it too. I also liked flying around the island in the plane.

  • Got invited to make up the numbers in a 4 player game. Good game and crazy manic when the space gets a bit tight.

  • I usually play the DS when I'm sick (which is fairly often) and I'm not sure taxing the brain is the best therapy but I played through the Curious Village. There a lot of tough puzzles in this game.

  • Got the 2nd game and found it easier than the Curious Village. Either I'm better at the puzzles after the first game or the puzzles were easier.

  • I just spend a few hours finishing off the game. The babies are annoying and the story is kind of crazy. Still strangely good though.

  • I've been making slow (and I mean slow) progress through the Phantom Hourglass. I think I'm just about deeper into the gassy dungeon (can't remember what it is called). Been through there at least 3 times I think.

  • A simple premise of finding stuff on the DS screen but it was a decent way of passing the time.

  • It is flawed but very compelling as you play through the game on the hardest difficulty, especially when the search is down to a 50/50 possibility.

  • I noticed this game was on sale and I happened to have some spare points. I saw the quick look on Giant Bomb and thought it was pretty good.

  • I didn't get very far when I first played it. I then had a problem with my save file so had to start again. Just getting back into again and I'm sure to be spending many hours on it.

  • It's my personal favourite of the Streets of Rage games. I'm looking at trying to get the Hardcore achievement at some point so I've just started to play it again to get some practice.

  • Needed to find a game that I hadn't played that much and had a lot of achievement points as I'm going for 20k by September 1st. Had barely played this one so I'm working through it.

  • Ahhh, SWOS. How much time did I spend playing you back in the 90s? Started playing the 360 XBLA game again and really enjoying it.

  • So, I played and finished the first Monkey Island on XBLA last year and I bought and played through the 2nd one. Went through the speed run first so I will probably play it again and listen to more of the dialogue and commentary.

  • I reached my 20k Gamerscore target with time to spare so I thought I'd give my score a bit more of a boost. There are games inside this game and I might put them on the list later if I play them again.

  • I got roped into my first experience of Modern Warfare 2 when some friends were a player down in a 4-way split screen match. I'm one of the worst FPS players around so found it frustrating early on. I would need to find my preferred setup and I enjoyed the match without the radar as I'm much more of a sneaker.

  • Speaking of sneaking, I'm helping my brother with some of the co-op stuff on Splinter Cell Conviction. I'm really enjoying the hiding and using my brain to work out strategies. I've just been learning the controls and stuff like that. Going to ramping up the difficulty soon.

  • I do like my cue sports and I started this back when it was released on a crummy TV that made playing the game very difficult. Now I have a big TV and HD, it is much more easier to play. Got some tough achievements to try and win.

  • Started playing this game again recently as I'm helping someone get the online achievements. I should get around to actually finishing it at some point.

  • Played a bit of this and it seems to throw puzzles at you a little less than the other 2 games. At the time of writing this, I'm about 3 hours in and played less than 30 puzzles.

  • Another game on my to do list. I'm really enjoying it and nearly finished it.

  • Got Rock Band 3 on the day it came out and played a few songs. I'm probably going to focus more on pro guitar but it hasn't arrived at this point.

  • Played some of this when it first came out but I'm just waiting for the patch to be released before I go totally crazy on it.

  • Monopoly without the hassle of getting a board out and rampant cheating. Shame it takes a little too long to play at times.

  • I've not played a lot of this so far but I've had a ton of fun from what I have played. Looking forward to my completionist nature kicking in and getting all those sneaky red coins.

  • My PC is starting to sound like it is taking off when I play this game. Would like to spend more time with it but I don't think my PC can take the kind of time I want to put in. Had a quick go and it is Football Manager, which means I like it.

  • I didn't finish it when I first got the game. I had forgotten pretty much all the concepts that were being thrown at me. Saying that, I've almost finished it now and then the dreaded speed run will be all that remains.

  • Played about an hour of it at time of writing. After a slow start, I did manage to get a 1st place on the autolog friends leaderboards type thing. The single player race selection feels a lot like an old Burnout and there is a Chase HQ vibe in there.

  • Yes, I have played Gran Turismo 5. It is totally a Gran Turismo game and what happens to me in those games happens again. I usually miss the gold by thousandths of a second and it happened to me again. Inevitable retry until success. I've also had a few curious disqualifications which have been a little frustrating.

  • I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Snoopy and Woodstock. The cartoons almost never get shown here. I'm also always on the lookout for a good dogfighting plane game. I find the multiple missile thing that most games come with to be a real annoyance. Anyway, good game. Like it.

  • Reminds me of Wipeout and Takeshi's Castle. It's free so I was always going to pick it up and finish it.

  • Interesting idea, feels a little sterile maybe. Achievements were super easy.

  • Tried to play it but my computer is starting to die a slow death. Strange lines and massive blocks appearing and blocking half the screen just makes it unplayable. Next year, I should be able to play it properly.
