  • While I doubt RB3 will get much love in the Game of the Year awards, it most certainly deserves to do well. Not only the most well thought-through and ambitious game in the Rock Band series but also in the rhythm game genre as a whole, its superb soundtrack, instrumental innovations and streamlined interface make it THE defining party game.

  • While I preferred certain elements of the original, Mass Effect 2's action and writing was far superior to that of its excellent predecessor. Fantastic characters and voice acting combine with the series' rich story to create a must play experience.

  • One of the most interesting and daring games I have yet played, Heavy Rain's cinematic scope and willingness to sink into a plot of depression and death was a breath of fresh air. Sure, the controls were a bit awkward and the voice acting could be iffy, but the experience was airtight. I emoted with the characters and by the end of the game, their story felt unique due to my own actions.

  • A fun and amusing throwaway singleplayer romp combined with a finely polished, highly addictive multiplayer. Bad Company offered huge maps, destructible environments and the series' trademark vehicles. A winning formula.

  • If you've ever played the Pokemans, you've played this game before. Originality isn't HG/SS's strong point- the insane amount of content is. Two huge regions, an insane amount of critters to collect and the DS' best integrated online multiplayer make for a great package.

  • I never got too far into Red Dead, but what I played seemed to be Rockstar's finest. John Marston was likeable and his story page-turning, both firsts in my book for Rockstar's library of titles.

  • A graphical treat which was dripping with tension and atmosphere. This shooter would have been a far superior experience had it not had any shooting, as unfortunately that whole area of it was slightly 'ghetto'. The world would have been far better suited as a straight up RPG or horror title, instead of shoe-horning shooter elements into such a fantastic world.
