Easily Horizon: Zero Dawn. I was so excited for that game, and the promise of it was huge, but it completely sucked. Hard. Terrible combat and no freedom. What's the point of an open world if it's really just a path that actively dissuades you from exploration? What's the point of climbing if you're just holding the stick up and watching Aloy jump from BRIGHT YELLOW LEDGE to BRIGHT YELLOW LEDGE? That's not a game, it's a movie with a convoluted play button. It made me think I hated open world games, but then Zelda came out and was so fucking fantastic it made realize I hate "open world games."

Ten hours into Shadow of War and that's a bummer too for some similar reasons.

It depends what you're looking for. I'd probably overall recommend Made in Abyss as it's one of the best pieces of media to come out in recent years, but if you want something that won't make you crawl up into a ball for hours then Mob Psycho 100.

I thought it was okay but needed to be about 45 minutes shorter or much better paced, woo boy. It was also a bit thematically dull as its mostly all retreading of old ground so there's not really many new ideas to chew on and mull over, and some of it was handled pretty poorly tbh. Only exception to that was the fake boy loves faker girl thing that was pretty neat. Got a feeling who this movie's diehard fans will be and that's gonna be real obnoxious, but the move itself was largely good, I need to watch it again not in a cinema.

I'm not skipping it because of bullshit "drama" but because it's £45! That's £5 too much for a non-Nintendo game! Too many games out anyway, I'll wait for a sale.

I didn't really like it because of the Hotline Miami gameplay but if you're into that this is probably bloody fantastic.

Every anti-loot box argument falls apart as they all lean on the idea that loot boxes is gambling. It isn't under any definition of the word, so each time I see yet another loot box post on reddit, my eyes just glaze over as soon as I read the word as any argument is inherently faulty due to the foundation upon which it was built. I feel like most people just do this to give some excuse other than "I don't like it and things that don't appeal directly to me shouldn't be in videogames" and the anti-loot box crowd really need to find a new argument with any factual merit if they hope to be taken seriously.

I don't really like them. They do nothing for me, but they're very easy to ignore so I don't really care if they're in a game I play.

Probably but only because the console "generation" cycle is largely becoming redundant. There have been good games but I played them all on PC while my PS4's been gathering dust.

Interesting that you would frame "no panty shots" and "no massive boobs" as a positive. What a world we live in where a fella can't enjoy a bit of demographically targeted smut!
