I'm 31 and I can only remember one other "celebrity" death that actually made me sad. While I'm sure my 14 year old self felt a deep connection to tupac's passing this is different. Ryan was different, Giant Bomb is different.

Since I can remember I wanted to be a games journalist, from the earliest of the early days of Nintendo Power and EGM to the internet boom and N64.com to 1-UP. I was admittedly late to the Giant Bombcast, and I never listened or really visited Gamespot when Jeff and Ryan worked there.

The gaming press typically shy away from the word journalist because they are enthusiast press. This has never been more true then with Ryan. You could tell in every bombcast, every quicklook, and in every long live show that this was Ryan's passion, gaming and more specifically covering and talking about gaming was what he loved.

Giantbomb was built around the premise that the person and the personalty were as much of a content driver as the content itself. We have lost one of the best of those. Thank you Ryan for every minute of content and every hour that went behind it. Thank you for doing it better then I ever could have.
