Underrated Games

This is a list of games I've played (and enjoyed) that were panned by critics and other players alike.

List items

  • When the first reviews of the newest SoulCalibur turned out to be rather lukewarm in reception, I wondered if it would end up being a disappointment. As it turns out, it's my new favorite game. The story was disappointing, as there was only one extensive story mode that didn't even feature many of the characters. Other than that, though, I don't really have any major complaints about the game. It's completely fantastic, easily the best fighting game in a number of years, in my opinion. I highly recommend it to any and all fighting game fans.

  • The thing I love most about Advent Rising are the characters. I absolutely love them. I also like the Jedi-styled powers that Gideon develops. The shooting system could use a little (or a lot) of work, but overall, it was an utterly charming game.

  • Eternal Ring featured a very interesting magic system, a skillful combat system, and one of the worst stories (as far as ease to get into and enjoy) that I've ever seen. It was a fun game, but not without it's flaws.

  • Metal Dungeon isn't great... by any means. But it did feature a character creation system that was very advanced for it's time and had oddly addictive gameplay, despite it's repetitive design.

  • Raging Blast 1&2, while light in the complexity department, are very fun games.
