Finally!

Well, it's well after my bedtime and I just got done playing CoD 4. I finally beat "Heat" after much frustration. There was one time where I was right about to walk onto the helicopter when I got shot and almost threw my controller out the window (literally). After a few mins to calm down, the next try I finally beat the mission and after months of a brick wall in Veteran difficulty, finally get to press onto the final missions.

That's all that I have to say.  I am so relieved and excited to get killed over and over and over and over and over and over during the rest of the game.

WTF CoD 4!

CoD 4 is kicking my ass so bad. Remember that mission "Heat"? Yeah. On veteran it is nearly impossible to accomplish.

I may start streaming soon my gameplay. I think it would be fun to watch me get mad over games. Especially when I'm close to FCing a song on GH and miss a note. Anyway, that would be on my stickam account so if you have it, add me on there. Search for BigMike87.

Well, I got my first Statistics exam tomorrow and I really want to play games. DAMN SCHOOL!

Cheapness!

Usually when I wake up, I go through what has now become my daily ritual. I head on over to my computer, check my e-mail, check on my game sites for new reviews and then head on over to amazon.com to see what MP3 album is cheap for the day. Today only, the mp3 album Superunkown by Soundgarden which includes the tracks "Black Hole Sun", "Fell On Black Days" and "Spoonman" is on sale for $1.99! I immediately purchased this and put it on my iTunes because you are basically paying for two songs and then getting 13 songs for free to put them on any device you want!

Also cheap on amazon.com is Guitar Hero 1, Guitar Hero 2 and Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80's for PS2 only at 19.99 each! If for some reason you never got a chance to play these games, now would be the time to purchase them. I may consider getting Rocks the 80's but who knows. At those prices, it would be sad for someone to miss out on getting them if they never had them before.

So, what else has been going on you say? Well, I may have found a job on Saturdays doing security. It won't be that bad because with a full time college schedule + playing a ton of video games, I'll be able to put a little extra money in my pocket.  Sweet indeed.

YouTube has started to get some videos of the new Metallica DLC for GH3. Check out GuitarHeroPhenom to see some FC's of a couple songs. Also, there have been some videos of Rock Band 2 for the 360 that some people, who probably work at GameStop and got it early, have put up to show some of the charts. Some of the songs are rediculous but I really like Everlong even though it will be on GHWT which I'm totally getting this Christmas.

Well, that's all from me today. I'll probably be on Live playing some Rock Band or Guitar Hero 3 or whatever so if you wanna play some games, hit me up!

Quickie

It's 9pm. Tonight, Death Magnetic comes out as DLC on Guitar Hero 3 and forward compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour. Listening to the album for a little less than a week now, I am contemplating on whether or not to get it. I know I ranted on this subject in a previous blog but there's something going on inside my head saying that it will probably be fun to get it.

$18.............I think it might be time to get a job.

Slap some sense into me!

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Quick Demo Impression

Hey guys. I hope all of you are doing awesome.

So, today I came home from class and turned on my 360 and saw that there was a demo of GH:A. It didn't take me long to download it and see what it was all about. You only get to play 5 songs, which is reasonable, that are 2 non-Aero and 3 Aero. There was only a quickplay option available so I dove in and played some songs.

The first thing that I noticed was that the window for hitting notes turned back into almost a GH2 style, which means that you have to be precise. I like that way because you get better at a bunch of things from having the window closed up like that. Anyway, the first song I chose was Walk This Way and WOW was that boring. The chart for that song was so repetative that it really made me want to just listen to the song rather than play it.

There's also something that really turned me off about the game's music. When the best song is a non-Aero song promoting the game, it is a demo afterall, you have a problem. The only song that I liked was Always On The Run by Lenny Kravitz for its somewhat funk style guitar riffs. With that being said, I guess you can tell what my closing comments are going to look like.

In conclusion (high school essay style), Guitar Hero Aerosmith is a game that is NOT worth $60+. It brings nothing new to the genre except new songs to play, which could have been done as an expansion DLC or something.......greedy activision! Even though I gave impressions on a demo, I did try the full game at a best buy and it still didn't change my mind. I would only buy this game if I saw it below $30.

P.S.
I actually saw this game for $15 at a flee(flea?) market, but it was a PS3 version.......BAH!

DLC Rant!

As some of you may have heard, this friday is the day that the new Metallica album becomes available as both a music cd and DLC for guitar hero 3. The DLC, for those of you interested, will be $18 and will be compatible with guitar hero world tour. $18 huh? I listened to the whole album and I must say that if I have to send 1440 points (i think that's how much $18 is) to get this on two video games, they should allow you to also transmit these songs to your iPod or Zune.

I'm sorry Metallica. Even with my anti-piracy streak lately (actually buying music that I like), spending twice as much money on music without having the right to do anything else with it besides play it in a video game is rediculous. But you can say, "But it's Metallica Mike! How dare you not want to spend the little amount of money that your jobless ass has on plastic guitar music!". If there was a way to physically enflict pain on you over the internet, I would smack your eye with a fishbowl if you said that to me. Well, I wouldn't hit you........hard.

All I'm saying is that I know that there are going to be a bunch of people who would rush to their ps3/360 and get this on the day it's released. I just think that it is outrageous to charge us a price that high for something that we should be able to have more control over.

Self-Discipline

One of the many things facing college students these days is the lack of time management. I am a commuter to my school and spending time at my hous trying to do my college work does not seem to be going well at all. Almost all of the time, I catch myself struggling to concentrate due to the fact that all of my gaming systems are staring right at me. As the days have come and gone, I've been thinking to myself that I need to start to discipline.... myself.

In order for me to carry out this scenario, I will need to focus on something that I really want to motivate myself to work hard and achieve good grades in order to have it. I came to a conclusion that Guitar Hero World Tour would be the perfect product to focus on getting those good grades for. If I feel that I could have done better, I probably will hold off on the game until I satisfy that.

Right now, since it is the first week of college, nothing really has been going on so I have been able to play a bunch of games. Guitar Hero 3 still occupies my time greatly even though I think that the game's set list is probably the one that I hate the most out of all the Guitar Hero games. I have also been playing Braid and Castle Crashers which are both awesome in their own way.

Today, for my final video game purchase before I get into super college mode, I will by buying Super Mario RPG off of the Wii Virtual Console. I never had this game and I've been wanting to get it for the longest time but spending more than $8 on the actual cartridge didn't fancy (yes I said fancy) me at all. I figure that this weekend will be one of the last great ones before I get bombarded with homework. So considering that I really never played the game before, would you say tat it is worth the $8?
