That sounds like a crazy solution. I'd make sure its always running at full pump speed if its plugged into your cpu fan have it set to 100% (or full speed) in your bios. Lowering it can cause more issues. worst case just rma it. Corsair is really great about warranties (most of my comps parts are corsair and i've never had an issue.)
Someone in this thread created a modified driver for that card to use on windows 7, seems to have varied success. I agree with the other, if you can't run a hard line then just buy a cheap usb receiver. You shouldn't have to pay any more than 15 - 20 bucks for one in store.
The majority of games out now or even coming out in the next year wont be bottled necked by a 3570k. I also agree that upgrading from a 680 to anything in the 7 series is pointless unless you want to game on more than one monitor, but then there's sli. If you are just looking for a place to sink cash into your rig you can always buy a water kit and make a loop or add ssd's, storage, max out ram, etc.
