Buyer's Remorse

I bought those with like, real money. And sometimes I wish I didn't.

List items

  • Nintendo DS | Wild World was great when I was playing a few minutes every other day. But leaving the game card unattended for more than a few weeks and my town was just too messed up. Weeds everywhere, my flowers gone, neighbors leaving, etc. That and the lack of in-game objectives killed this game for me. You know what? A npc gardener that I could pay to maintain my flowers and the city grass in good condition while I was away and that would've saved the game for me.

  • PlayStation 2 | Not a bad game. But certainly is an half-assed port. Over the time I just got tired of the music style and my dancing mat is just gathering dust. So far that's nothing to make me regret buying PIU Exceed, but since no other PIU was released for the PS2 I think should have just bought a DDR. Sure, I can play DDR with a PIU mat but it's not really good.

  • Game Boy Advance | I liked this game. Seriously. But if I had any hope that Re: Chain of Memories, a.k.a. the PS2 polygonal remake, would be released outside of japan I would probably never get the GBA version.

  • PC - Windows & Mac | I know, I know. It's Portal. Poooortal. Everyone loves Pooooortal. Thing is: until I bought it, I thought steam was only used in games bought at the Steam Store. I bought mine from a online store and wasn't expecting having to install a DRM software. I dealt with frustration but decided that I won't buy physical games with steam anymore. I mean, if it has Steam, it's better to just buy it from the Steam store. To make matters complete, the game was free during most of May 2010 and I hadn't even picked up this yet so if I had waited until I was actually in mood to play it I would have got it for free.

  • PC - Windows & Mac | Once again: I know, I know. It's StaaaaarCraft! When I was a teenager I loved it. But time passed and I got old, slow and lame. Last year I decided to buy this again (I've lost my old copy) and boy, I can't play this to save my life. I suck so hard that it's almost funny to watch it.

  • Nintendo DS | I admit it: I bought the premise. Play it a couple of minutes a day, do a bit of puzzles, logic problems, and quick thinking and hopefully warm up my pre-frontal cortex, or whatever it's called, and try and see if it's as fun as the awfully bad rendered japanese guy made it sound like. It kind of is but you need to have discipline to really enjoy this game and tolerance to get past the "draw me something stupid" parts or the janky handwriting recognition. I have neither.

  • PC - Windows | Plain old impulse buy. It was really cheap during Steam 2009 Holiday Season and I just bought along with many others. I was so stupid that I didn't know anything about this game. What it was, what was it about, how well did it go on reviews, minimum requirements, etc. I only have myself to blame.

  • Nintendo DS | How fun is carpal tunnel syndrome? This game is beautiful but damn! Hunters just gives me a world of hand pain. I've played for a few hours and dropped. I think some day I'll build up some courage to finish it.

  • PC - Windows | Just because I bought the Steam version. Unlike the retail version you can't bypass the censorship this game received in the US version. I wanted this game but I should have paid a little more for the retail version.

  • PC - Windows | To be clear: this game is great. It's just not suited for people like me. I loved the months I played it but now It seems that I paid a lot of money (including subscriptions and add-on scenarios) for a game that I didn't even manage to explore more than a third of total content. Honestly? I shouldn't buy open-ended games.

  • PC - Windows | I've read the requirements. My PC was supposed to run it. It didn't. I had to wait until my next hardware upgrade to play it. Lame.

  • PC - Windows | Same that happened to Lego SW. It was supposed to run ok. It just won't. Check the Steam forums for similar cases involving the .NET framework error. I managed to play it after I upgraded to Windows 7 but the land was already salted.
