I actually just played and finished this last week on Switch. When it was first doing the rounds I was like "oh cool Devolver game that's a side-scrolling Hotline Miami. I'll get around to it". I never once heard about the bonkers storyline that unfolds within. It's not the most amazing writing but it's so effective and just really unexpected. I loved it!

I also really love that ending where you can choose to die and you just get the end credits. I really wasn't expecting that and almost considered putting the game down and just accepting that as the canonical end.

I agree! Definitely give it a look if you like those action games. It's nice and short too. Took me roughly 5 hours.

@meteora3255 so while I may not be able to answer the specifics of what it was like in terms of the actual dev of it (I was just the producer on the game), I do know that it caused a lot of issues for us during optimisation, especially on consoles. Technically the game is rendering the level 4 times (or up to 8 times depending on platform and game mode) so while the design of clean, colour coded and sparse levels actually makes the concept work, it was super important in making the game actually playable too. Then when you take into account that Online has you rendering those levels 4 times (for each screen) and receiving netcode from the other three players, and all of that being rendered and transmitted, it's quite a technical feat that I'm super proud of the team working out.

In terms of the coding wizardry, I'm not entirely sure how they rigged up the ragdolls. There's a cheat mode where you can turn visibility on and you just have the "morphsuit" player models running around the level, and when you shoot them they do their ragdoll dance. So technically I think your player character is running around and functioning normally, just invisible. To be clear though, I was just the producer on this one, so not entirely sure. Hope it's interesting though :)

Hey there folks!

Some of you will recognise my username - I usually do a mystery code drop whenever I release a new game I worked on to share the love to my fellow duders. Normally I don't announce what the game is, because this isn't about advertising - it's just my way to give back to the community that I so thoroughly enjoy. However today's new game is an expansion, so I do need to tell you what it is, because if you do not own the original, this code will be useless to you.

I'm super excited that today we have released Hacknet Labyrinths, an expansion for the original Hacknet. Below are 30 Steam keys, so please if you have the original game, pick it up! While I wrote the majority of the non-story content on the original Hacknet, I was too busy writing Orwell during the development of this expansion, so my role was simply Producer. Still, exciting to see this out in the wild!

The DLC is actually hidden in the main "vanilla" game. So once you load up your save (or if you're crazy enough to start the game again) you can follow this guide to find access to the new rabbit hole http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=895065432

Enjoy my fellow Duders!

@wheresderrick oh man that's awesome. Feel free to PM me a link for some advice if you like :)

I work for an indie publishing label as a producer, so I've been involved in over 10 launches. Each time we're learning a little more, and this is our second game on console so just learning about that whole process has been a massive undertaking.

My role in each game is different. For one game I wrote all of the non-mainline story narrative, for another i'm basically writing the entire script. On most I run the production side of things (middleman between the label and the developers to make sure everything is done on time, properly, budget etc). This one was one of our older games, so I wasn't super heavily involved in the production side until the end.

@mrcraggle we actually started saying it was the Citizen Kane of Super Crate Box Clones, but some people didn't get the joke :P Funnily enough the developer had never played SCB and when I showed it to him, was immediately like "oh damn" lol.
