People need to remember that to finish this quest, you just need 5 people online that YOU are following.  You don't need a single soul following you.
I'd recommend finding 5 people online in this thread and quickly follow all of them, then refresh.  Done. Or, in my case, I just waited till 5 of the staff were on (who you are automatically set to follow).  Whatever works for you.

I bought these on a whim yesterday and I have to say that these are all nice.  I've been spending a lot of time with the Mattock, in particular.  Rather pleased with these.
