So does anyone on this site actually like video games anymore?

@NegativeCero: Don't get your hopes up, because they've heavily implied that AC3 will be coming out next year. With the the whole disaster in 2012 thing the games have been building up towards, they've said they want to get it out by then. Maybe they'll take a break after that though?

I haven't bought the game yet, but my impressions based on what I've seen/read and playing the beta are that it's pretty much Bad Company 3 (on consoles), which is fine with me. I feel like I have a pretty good idea what I'll be getting when I hand over my moneys, so I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Both. Probably not getting BF3 until closer to the end of the year though. BF is great and all, but when MW3 and AC:R come out I'm going to be too wrapped up in them to dedicate much time to BF3.

I have to agree with the Assassin's Creed games. I really like the whole Animus motif. The Dirt and GRID games have really nice UIs as well. And CoD:BO as well. It certainly isn't anything special aesthetically, but functionally it's great. From the fact that you can pretty much bypass the sluggish in-game Xbox guide/XMB completely to invite and/or join games, to the little touches like being able to boot up directly to the multiplayer menu or being able to back out your entire party when you're leader. No more repeating "back out" until everyone pays attention. As someone who plays CoD a lot, I'm really hoping MW3 will pick up a lot of these UI features.

World at War is the only game I haven't prestiged in, but I don't know if I want to put in the time. IIRC I'm still a good 15-20 levels from 65. If not, 3 out of 4 tokens is good enough.

A lot of people love taking their opinions to the extreme, particularly when it concerns a subject they're passionate about. Something is either the most awe-inspiring thing ever or the worst. Sometimes people even flip-flop between these two extremes. It happened to me with Modern Warfare 2 (lesson learned). Basically, take super strong opinions with a grain of salt.

I like Oblivion because there's no other game I've played that offers me such a sense of freedom. I get out of the tutorial cave and see the overworld and feel like I can do whatever the fuck I want. When I think about at all the individual systems in the game, then yeah, I start to see that a lot of them kind of suck. Oblivion is a jack of all trades, master of none. But there's no other game out there that is such a jack of all trades, and that's why I find it so compelling. Oblivion has a ton of flaws, I'm just able to look past them and see the amazing game beneath.

Man, I'm tired of all these first-person puzzle games in which you use a device to alter the environment in order to progress through the levels. Enough already!
