It's fine. I just don't like the fact that every time I want to watch a video I have to change the quality settings even though I have HD selected before I press play.

Same here. Hopefully this is a bug they fix eventually (soon?).

Will the GB team still be free to keep talking dirty, swear, and say whatever the fuck they want? And will we be able to continue to do the same on the forums?

I'm wondering this too. With such emphasis being put on "Giantbomb will remain a separate site!", I'm thinking that the swearing and all-around craziness will continue.

I really hope they keep the core small, though. If you need more engineers and producers, fine. but keep Brad, Vinny, Jeff, Patrick, Dave and Ryan as the core of the site. We don't want to hear the opinions of the people who work at gamespot. because we've been building a sort of weird internet relationship with those specific guys, and to bring in more people would betray that trust.

Well, they can leave Patrick out, that's fine.

What's lame is that All Things D and others felt it was such a newsworthy thing to report. I mean, everyone knows about the iPad 3 being announced then as well as the improved screen. It's been known for months.

Nothing has been "known". Just because yourself and many others have been submerged in Apple rumors for months doesn't not mean any of those rumors are true. Just look at the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S rumors before launch - there were a lot of them that did not turn out to be true.

A site that is a bit more reputable/solid than most Apple rumor sites and a confirmation from the well-connected Jim Dalrymple is a bit closer to the announcement being "known" than any of the previous rumors.

Impressive - all it took was one day!. Curious to see if some other studios do this, although I'm sure they'll wait to see if this even works out. Isn't game development notorious for being over budget and missing deadlines?

Patrick is way, waaaay too 'cool' for this website, I don't like his loud, laughing, clapping presence among the GB crew, he needs to go.

Agreed! His contributions don't add much value - the "in-depth news stories" he writes don't belong on Giant Bomb. He seems like a person that should be churning out shit on Kotaku or something. He doesn't mesh with the team, either - get rid of him.

From the story:

Gears of War 3 is not the end of the franchise, but since it just came out, Gears is unlikely.

The story itself is about a new franchise, so why does Gears matter? Sloppy as usual...

Wow, what a terrible date.

3) When the servers melt down on Days One-Ten, Bioware-Austin's employees will either all be on call for the holidays (or more likely, all but unable to even leave work).

I think this is the most important point concerning the repercussions of this release date. I'm sure "the business" and/or pride were the main factors in the release date, so I guess it's not so surprising. Impacts Bioware AND lots of EA staff too - who knows, Origin may also buckle under pressure!

The proceeds of this are going to a charity, how can anyone be against this?  A little expensive, but for the people with the money to spare it sounds like it could be fun...
