You're probably best off going with the private sellers, even for new games.
I pre-ordered the PS3 Survival Edition for Fallout 3 from Amazon proper, not caring much about the game but REALLY wanting a pipboy alarm clock. I got an order confirmation for the preorder but no game was sent when the time came. I tried to get them to acknowledge this but they just said they were out of stock and asked me if I wanted to buy the stand alone game. I can't even remember if they charged a few bucks for the preorder but if they did, I certainly didn't get any refund.
Oh, and I can't figure why someone called the first MGS frustrating. I'm the most laid back gamer (except for my picking "normal" instead of "easy" so i don't miss any twist endings) and I played through it the first few times without a memory card
The second was my least favorite, and I actually liked Raiden from the start. It was Fatman that I couldn't stand. I love Metal Gear mostly for it's Villians, and I don't think any from MGS2 compare to the MGS lineup.
One month later the child made famous for attempting to drive to school after playing Grand Theft Auto stole his parents car again to drive to his friend's birthday party. When asked why it was so important to him, the boy responded that he was terrified of the notion that he might get there too late to hear the fourty five minute speech about ones becoming tens and tens becoming hundreds that all boys recite when they get old.
Grampybone (Fallout 2) Sulik wasn't a bad guy but the bone in his nose did most of the talking.
I also liked the laid back style of Ian from the first Fallout. I imagined banter with the main character where the Vault Dweller finally gives up asking him to zip up his damned fly.
My character woke up and realized none of his homework ever got done because he believed Math, Science, English, and History will never again create anything as beautiful as Fallout, and still does.
The scalpel was my favorite in Planescape: Torment. For Fallout I side with the Mauser because you keep it around in case you find ammo for it besides the bullets Gizmo fails to fire, but you never do.
