Dead Space is fairly similar in many ways, but I loved how in The Thing you had to test your teammate's blood to find out whether they were actually aliens, and you had to keep the other members from freaking out...
Anyone remember playing that game? Any other's like it you could recommend?
Alien kinda freaked me out. And Jaws kept the who country out of the water during the 70s.
Ever seen Cannibal Holocaust... disturbing. But I find a lot of gore films to be just that, very disturbing... not necessarily scary. Like Hellraiser...
OhHHhh!!! What about The Thing! That was a great freaky movie! (and surprisingly good game back on the ps2)
These seem a bit to the extremes... A ten point scale is best. Giant Bomb needs half stars. There's such a big gap between a 3 and a 4 star game, and sometimes a really amazing game might only make 4 stars when it deserves 4 and a half, but isn't quite a five. Just personally I think it isn't enough.
A 100 point scale however is stupid. I can understand its use in Metacritic averages however.
I was in your same situation like 5 months ago. I had a 360 several years ago for a short period of time, and then used it as rent when I moved across country (another story for another day)
After having the PS3 since release, I finally bought a new 360 about 5 months ago, and am very happy I did!
-The first reason for me doing so was that there were some exclusives I wanted to try out (Alan Wake was on the top of my list) -After spending time on both systems now, I have found that the control scheme on both consoles can lend themselves to particular types of games) a.k.a. I like fighters on ps3, I like shooters on sexbox. -Even the presentation of other software and media can be more appealing on one over the other. I like Netflix on ps3 better, and appreciate the support of pandora, last fm on xbox. -Finally, it allows me to get the better version of a multi release title on the appropriate console. I could care less about Trophies/Achievements, so I got LA Noire on PS3 and Red Dead Redemption on Xbox
