I played this when it first came out and "It's the best worst game ever" is probably an apt description. I had fun playing it. But I might have had as much fun watching this review. This is prime GB content!
Mass Effect is my favorite gaming series of all time and watching this and experiencing the series again with Alex has been an absolute blast.
It is kinda super shitty though that Brad, Vinny or the chat didn't tell Alex to stop so he could actually sit back and think about his choice. Honestly can't believe they just let it go like that. Super sucks when you've invested so much time into something and then have the final choice come out like that.
I can appreciate where you're coming from. However, personally, I loved it as it mirrored my experience. I was kinda of tired and got to the ending sleepy and late at night. I only mostly listened to the explanations, but didnt really take note of which path lead to which ending. Using my usual "left hand rule" of walking down paths, I walked to what turned out to be "Control" thinking I had to press a button to activate. NOPE!
So watching Alex barrel ahead was self-satisfying as I realized I wasnt the only one who didnt understand that simply walking was making a choice.
For a second, I thought Alex just said "WE'RE GONNA FINISH IT!" and went ham. Anyway, thanks for working on the glitch @vinny, I hope it doesnt cause you too much trouble.
@zandrake94: Wait, so they don't even bother to account for a ME2 romance with him in this game? I guess it makes sense considering there is a decent amount of stuff about him and the scientist he helped rescue hooking up, but still...
Oh they account for it alright! FemShep gets kinda pissed! I had romanced Jacob, but by the time I did this mission, I had already curb'd him for Traynor. However, Shep still gives Jacob a piece of her mind, along the lines of "Did you forget about us?" I dont remember the exact wording. I'm sure there are YT vids of all the dialog outcomes.
The dream sequences were always a pain. But considering where this one comes in the story, Mordin should have been in it, just like Ashley's voice was.
Disappointing you can't grab that chess board for Traynor. There is a fun little exchange you can have with her up in the captain's quarters over a game of chess.
Perhaps not "for Traynor", but that chess board *should* appear in Shep Shep's quarters as a decoration.
@alex and @vinny, for the Cerberus Shield guys, instead of shooting at their feet, aim for the "mail" slot at the top of the shield. You can get a headshot and drop them immediately
Alternatively, the Armour Piercing mod (which is probably one of the best modifications in the game) will bypass the damage nullification of the Guardian shield so you can do damage wherever you hit them, and hilariously disrespects the cover-based rules of the game by applying damage shooting right through cover.
There's also a number of weapons which have this armor piercing effect innately, including the Executioner Pistol (which I am dying to see them use someday for how fun it is, seeing as it will probably down a Guardian in a single hit based off how easily they're wiping out everything else)
Alternately, alternatively, since he finished the Omega DLC, he can assign "Lash" as a power in the med bay. That way, he can just rip the shields right out of their hands.
Tip @alex when you use Javik's Dark Channel to 'poison' the fools, you can hit them with Throw or Warp and they will explode in a biotic combo, often knocking down other people around them. Then the Dark Channel will transfer to a different foe and you can repeat the throw/warp for another explosion.
