Oh this is a a real bummer. Kinda felt like something was up behind the scenes and so expected some kind of big news, but man, end of another era. Here's hoping the best for everyone!
Oh yeah nice. I've been feeling lately that the Beastcast needs a few more voices.
EDIT - I like Superman for the same reasons I like Star Trek. Heck they more or less have the same type of stories (getting depowered, fighting an equal, fighting a god being, engaging in some moral/ethical quandary).
But I like them because they are good people who do good for its own sake and they are free of the fears that shackle us (fear of others, of losing a job, of being embarrassed, etc). Thus, they live lives we cannot relate to, but maybe can aspire for.
There was a fun concept for a show where dozens of random objects in a weirdo motel room all had powers that escalated and combined as more and more objects were accumulated. Starting with innocuous minor effects. I don't remember the show being great, but I feel the concept was pretty awesome.
I honestly think part of why Tron Legacy got made was to develop that de-aging tech. Just like Guardians of the Galaxy had all these spaceships and dogfighting (rather than say folks in energy bubbles) to help dry run Star Wars FX for modern standards.
Re Street Fighter 6: And planning 3 games out before you've released the first...
I'm fairly sure Square did this with Final Fantasy IX, X, and XI just as FFVIII was coming out. I definitely remember grainy footage coming out of all three (in progressively less developed states) that must have been recorded at some event or other in 1999. That's AAA development for you.
I think an X-COM would work well for GI JOE. War of the Chosen kinda works well. Three ancillary villain groups like the Dreadnoks, Iron Grenadiers, and maybe the Crimson Guard, and three potential allies like the Oktober Guard, Arashikage, Slaughter's Marauders. The classes are pretty easy to adapt for both Cobra and GI JOE.
Heck, the covert missions even fit well since half of the episodes were about disguises and spy work.
