3.41 ruined my PS3. I am so pissed. I can't turn it on and I'm getting flashing red light. Apparently a lot of people are having the same problem. I am very very angry!
Jeff, You guys are doing great. Don't shy away from adds. You guys have shown that you can create a meaningful experience. I am sure that will extend to the adds as well.
Let me tell you from first hand experience, When I was your age, I wanted to study architecture. My parents "convinced" me to go into economics/finance. My career turned out great, I traveled the world and I work for in a top tier consulting firms. But if you have an art bug in you, you will be haunted all your life. You will eventually hate your job and you will hate the fact that you didn't follow your dream when you had a chance. Now I am going back to school to change the direction of my career. And guess where I'm going to study - art and design school. If BFA is out of question, then i suggest going for architecture and then planning to do an MFA later. Also while you are in Architecture, load up on art electives to sharpen your skills and develop your style. You can study concept art without even going to school. Check out ImagineFX magazine (full of advice and techniques and it comes with a DVD with all kind of goodness) and conceptart.org. A lot of people there are self-trained artists and successful commercially as well. One last piece of advice, I highly recommend a book called A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink. Give it to your dad. It's a short read and I will bet that it will change his mind. If it doesn't then nothing will, and architecture is your only choice. PM me. I know quite a bit about this stuff and I can help you.
