I played DW3 way back in the day and thoroughly enjoyed going through "Free Play" mode and leveling the shit out of my favorite characters. The grind was interesting when I felt like I was achieving something. From what I've heard, there isnt a "free" mode in 7, but is there still an interesting way to do about the same thing?

I'm pretty sick of this shit. I play MW2 multiplayer off and on and every time i come back i am able to get to the top one or two of the match without using cheap tactics or guns. Its pretty easy to quickly counter a lot of the tactics employed by shitty douche-whistle players. Sure, there are a couple times when you'll just die to noob-tubers or shotgun-sniping or something else that seems cheap, but as long as you play tactically you can always either stay away from them or catch them where they can't use their tactics to their advantage. Don't bitch about games being un-balanced when you haven't put the time or effort into actually trying out different tactics aimed specifically at taking those guys down.

Bitching about MW2 being un-balanced is like bitching that starcraft is un-balanced: some things seem super un-balanced because you keep getting steam-rolled by someone doing something that destroys your army quickly and easily, but ultimately you're just a lazy player who would rather bitch and complain than change your tactics...

Zerg. The ability to just drum up another army in a minute is wonderful... I seem to be the only one who likes them that much. I've only played the first one though.

It seems like none of you have actually read the initial post... I agree with the OP's assertion that the reason we come to GB is because we like the opinions and commentary that Brad, Jeff, Ryan and Vinnie have on the subjects reported on.

However

The only real gripe i have with Nicholson's writing is that he just needs to do a once-over on his articles before posting them... It has become a bit of a nuisance to have every paragraph have several errors in it where i have to go back and re-read a sentence because the grammar makes no sense or there are words in the wrong order. His recent Blacklight interview comes to mind. Otherwise, his style of writing is entertaining and comes with the same style of GB commentary and funny quips I appreciate when coming here.

The TF2 article you cited seemed pretty knowledgeable from someone who noticed a big update on a game he didn't play... Can't rail on him for that.

This is the only game that seems to have a multiplayer that doesn't set you up to get completely destroyed by people with WAY too much free time. I really can't think of another game that i've been able to come back to and be able to be pretty easily become top-dog.

I think its hilarious how many idiots are trying to pass off anyone who disagrees with the health care "reform" as stupid, inbred hicks. The truth of the matter is that many of the people who disagree with the health care reform disagree because it is a MASSIVE swing towards Socialism for a society based on Capitalist principles. The entire idea of the American dream is the capitalistic belief that people can find a way to make a name for themselves and the government isn't going to strictly regulate what/where/when/why/how that will be. Having the government step in and "shoulder" the entire cost of health care for 30-something million people is absolutely ridiculous. If you really do believe that there is somehow going to be more stringent cost-analysis within a government body, i have a bridge to sell you... I mean hell, the post office just closed out last year with a 3.9 BILLION dollar loss... Any business would be absolutely bankrupt after a year like that, but who shoulders the cost? YOU do. I do. Everyone who votes does... Hell i believe its something like anyone making over 50 grand a year will be paying more towards health care than they would otherwise. And something like a fourth of the population without insurance makes 50 grand or more a year. That is why the government should keep its inefficient hands off health care.

I also think that people's idea of the "poor" are incredibly skewed. The poor people of America have two TVs, at least one car, cable internet, cell phones, basically anything that any other person does, but they shouldn't be affording that kind of stuff. They need to sort out their priorities and make sure they can afford some kind of health insurance; Not coming and crying when they make a poor buying decision and then get hurt or sick...  I'm poor as all hell, but i'm making sure I have money for decent health care and hey, its not great insurance, but if i get in an accident or very ill, i won't be bankrupt. But I also can't afford an iPhone, or a nice TV, or to eat out every other night... I don't expect someone else to pay for it either...

I like steam a lot as a service, but about half of the games i have on there have some sort of issue where clickable icons are blacked out and some of the older adventure games have just random black squares obscuring most of the screen. They aren't even the same developer or anything, from Beyond Good and Evil, to the indiana jones adventure games, and others.

But yeah, i like Steam's prices and the loading/installing client is wonderfully easy; just wish i could play half of my games...

This was posted on OCR and I felt that, considering the databasing quality of Giant Bomb, you guys would be perfect for this.

Its basically a bunch of visual puns for video games. Its pretty well-done and interesting. I'm up to 48 of 56, can't figure out what the light cycle at the bottom of the page, the nerdy guy with the star on his chest on the left, or the cat helicopter is...

Hop to it!
