Top Ten Xbox 360 Game Stories

I've been scrolling through various lists of top games the past few months, and I rarely see any that I actually agree with. Maybe I'm picky. Maybe I have different tastes in games than most people. Either way I decided to post a list of my own. Now I don't want to give too many details away about the games or any spoilers so most of my descriptions will be a basic summary, specific things i like about the stories, and/or personal feelings and experiences while playing the games.

List items

  • #1 Infinite Undiscovery

This is the only game i bought immediately after i tried it through GameFly. Infinite Undiscovery has every element on RPG you could ask for and more. Square Enix did it once again, despite all the critics giving it average ratings. This is one of the only RPGs where you actually see full human emotion in a character, and a lot of characters and abilities you can choose from to help you basically kill god. Fun right? Also it seems like you never stop getting characters and learning the limits of how many emotions a game can actually give you.

  • #2: Spec Ops: The Line

Classic third-person shooter, what's so special about this? Well other than the beautiful graphics how about a story that will have you questioning life by the end? This game will make you think of things that you never thought possible in a shooter. I'd almost put this in the horror category only for how it makes you feel once you finally finish it. I had to sit and think for a couple minutes afterward just to make sure I was still sane, and I still beat it a second time JUST to make sure.

  • #3 Fable 3

For anyone who doesn't know what this game is in short, you're a prince or princess, you start a revolution to overthrow your brother, you take control of Albion, fight off the forces of darkness, all with a loyal dog and a hot pink afro, and multiplayer co-op mode. What could go wrong? How about your co-op partner taking your wife to the deepest part of the castle and all you hear is a gunshot and giggling while a message says your children are now in the orphanage, because your wife was brutally murdered? I'M STILL MAD AT YOU JON!

  • #4 Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Who knew that Square Enix made more than subpar Final Fantasy games and then tried to stuff them into your gaming faces? Futuristic Detroit in a not-so distant future where people get to become half robots? What's not to like? Corporate Corruption and medical companies wanting to kill the people that they are supposed to help? It's almost like they know what's going on in the outside world of non-gaming. Tragedy befalls Adam Jensen and he tries to figure out basically what the hell happened to his company, him, and his long time girlfriend who was kidnapped.

  • #5 Tales of Vesperia

Now you can't NOT love any tales game that comes out. They're always very humorous, very addicting, and they all have one thing in common. When you think the game is gonna end the game tells you, "NOPE I'm gonna give you ten more hours of gameplay and a whole new super enemy that'll more than likely try to kill everything you know and love." You start off trying to recover a blastia core to keep your simple, ex-knight, life going right and as usual some princess comes by and now you're on a giant adventure across land and space.

  • #6 Call of Duty: World at War

Now I know there are good Call of Duty games, nazi zombies mode, and an engaging, somewhat infuriating, multiplayer mode. That's not why this game is on my personal list. I've played numerous World War 2 games, seen documentaries, and watched movies, and World at War is the best campaign I've played, solely on just the various enemies, situations, and the end battle and putting up the flag can't easily be forgotten. One good reason this story is so good, and why Black Ops 1 was good, is because of the crazy russian Reznov.

  • #7: Dynasty Warriors 8

I love the Dynasty Warriors series and how it correlates with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms book. Late Han period China, running around killing people with almost any weapon you can imagine, what could be better? Oh that's right, an engaging story that fans of all ages will like. There isnt much humor besides how insane Zhang He is, but that doesn't detract from the various battle you can take part in, characters you can use, and different stories you can follow.

  • #8: Alpha Protocol

A spy RPG, interesting concept, but could have been executed better. The story is very good, but most of the time you're either in a room reading hilarious e-mails, or flirting with various allies you gain throughout the story, customizing your weapons and gaining intel for your next mission, or actually in the mission. If they made more things you could do between missions this game wouldn't have gotten the horrible reviews it did.

  • #9: Lost Odyssey

Another decently sized RPG with very good story elements. There are confusing points in it, but they all get answered eventually. If you like the classic turn-based fighting this will definitely appeal. Many characters and combinations of parties you can use will keep you switching things around and engaged until the end of the game.

  • #10: Enchanted Arms

Now the beginning tells a good summary of your environment as a casual slacker in a college of some enchanting, gives a good description of the area around, and gets screwed over fairly quickly after you learn the basics of the game. It's a decently sized RPG with not many memorable characters beside the protagonist, but there aren't many holes in the plot as its easy to follow.
