A slow year for new releases means I'm playing lots of old games. Have y'all played Kirby for Game Boy? xD

Play Populous for Game Boy, the way it was always meant to be played 0

A trip to my local vintage games store turned up a surprise today. Populous for Game Boy. Released in 1992 this monochrome marvel crams all three game modes into the tiny portable console. The result is a very slow but oddly compelling version of the game. Command you people and dominate the map using a combination of A & B with directional motions on the D-pad. Raise land by holding A and pushing up, lower by pushing down. You get the idea. It's a peculiar way to play the game but I do give...

Tremendous 0

Sometimes a game speaks to you the moment you pick it up. Knights and Bikes is not entirely what you're expecting from the trailer, but it's what you want. A gloriously colourful and cheerful game. Its greatest achievement is the way that it doesn't make fun of the children at the centre of the story. The issues created by the "rubbish" grown ups around them are viewed through a lens for sure, but not one which looks down on or makes fun of their lack of full understanding. # The Final Station Switch A generous holiday discount coupled with dreams of maintaining a train pulled me into The Final Station. A bug that halted progress and a story that is hampered by bad design and which ultimately flips you the bird nearly took me out of it. The Final Station has you explore sides scrolling pixel art levels attempting to survive a series of creepy levels whilst solving pretty straight forward puzzles and picking up supplies and survivors. It’s not a bad game but...

The antidote to stress 0

I've been utterly charmed by Pokémon Art Academy. The lessons see you copying various illustrations as you learn to draw your favourite Pokémon and I have to admit it's great fun. A really relaxing way to spend a lunchtime or tea break. It's more expensive than perhaps I'd like a game of this type to be, so if you can, wait for it to go on sale, but as a download title which I can open my 3DS and play any time I think it's a solid title. Worth a look, they should really make a demo...

9 Hours in and hooked 0

I'm not proceeding at the same pace as Patrick, clearly, but I'm really enjoying my Monster Hunting. It's not as complex as I was led to believe, this version of the game does provide a lot of explanation and the quests lead you by the hand as the difficulty starts to ramp up. I'd encourage anyone who has enjoyed the Pokémon series to give it a try. As well as a full on crafting, farming and battle system it's also charming and funny in places and I think it'll be great when I get together with...
