@zevvion: I almost lost to him on my first try, but then he killed himself by flying up and diving directly into the water. Also to your other comment, I found that the axe and spear are way better at guard breaking. Plus there's a magic spell that can stop enemies from gaining ki. It really just fucks up revenants if you can get those grapples nonstop. Though with dual swords, I found it easier to just wait and punish.

I need to give it another shot. I remember trying to play it and being really put off early on, basically by everyone. Not that it was badly written necessarily , but it caught me off guard at how it was written. It felt like I accidentally walked into the wrong theater. But also everyone who plays it seems to really like it. When I do go back, I might play Read Only Memories too and see how they compare.

This game is great, when you're not being disconnected. I really like the base combat, especially in duels/brawls, but the other modes get funky. Revives are both extremely fast and give full health and stamina. Combine that with chasing and it can get real dumb in 4v4s. Executions prevent this and that's a good incentive to do the cool finishing moves. I'm slightly mixed about dominion. Its generally fine, though I feel like it could be better. The heroes' roles make a bit more sense, though the dynamic isn't quite there. In general both 4v4 modes can get real stupid with item stats ,perks ,chasing, etc. I still want to play them more to get a feel for it.

Similarly revenge is great and terrible. Its basically a comeback mechanic that builds quicker when you're outnumbered. It gives you health, stamina, uninterrupted attacks(including guard breaks!), and can trigger a knockdown on activation. It's also essential in any situation where you're outnumbered ,though you can bait or wait it out. This is really smart mechanical incentive to stay in 1v1s, or risk giving the other guy revenge. I've both lost and won fights due to this. The problem is that item stats can make it build quickly and that just adds to the dumbness of 4v4s. Since why would you not spec toward free health, stamina, and damage.

One time, after finishing my duel in 2v2, I went to see if my ally made it and he did and then we both dramatically fell to our knee. So yea I really dig this game. Parrying is neat. The customization is cool. The pace is intense and the heroes are all interesting, I'm picking it up. Really hope the servers survive and that the community both stays and isn't garbage.

The combat is way more Ninja Gaiden esque which makes it way easier for me personally, but harder for others apparently. It's also more straightforward with shorter levels and Diablo loot is fun. There's also just way more stuff to mess around with the crafting, skill trees, etc. That said if Bloodborne didn't grab you even a little then I'm not sure this will. Its still a essentially a Souls game, just a bit more palpable overall.

I honestly think that might be a server issue. Ubisoft games always have some type of server issue at launch/beta and this game was no exception. I have fios and I'm getting kicked from matches and sometimes the server. Also unless something is actually up, 6Mbps should be fine. I mean, I had 2Mbps(on paper anyway) and I could get along fine. The only time I had problems was using Playstation Now, which straight up said my internet was too low.

But seeing as this is a pretty regular thing for Ubisoft, and the game release being a couple of days away, I bet it'll continue into the launch.

I voted for Marvel as a gut reaction. Though MK definitely has a casual audience that most fighting games don't.

@oursin_360: That's totally me. I was turned off by the difficulty and the RPG elements initially. Its definitely easier than that alpha. I'm actually not having too hard of a time which feels weird. The game is pretty generous with the timings and the variety of refillable items. I'm on a standard PS4 and it looks fine running at 60. If an enemy is far away though(and if the screen is busy?) then they'll move in stop motion, until they get closer. I've seen this happen only a couple of times.

I was undersold on how actiony the combat was. And the loot/gear progression feels looser than a Souls game. So I'm really enjoying it. I was most surprised at how many options they give you, out side of the combat. Like the ninja/magic skills and the ability to sell gear for amrita. I don't feel desperate or lost ever, just challenged.

I watch a bunch of it streamed last beta that convinced me to pick it up. It doesn't look perfect but, I really like a lot of what they're doing. Really curious at how the community will take it in terms of netcode(which I saw a lot of complaints) and balance. I imagine it'll be like everything fighting game people complain about but, amplified and not in a good way.

I've always thought there could be a way better mix between standard fighting games and something like Nidhogg. I was never a fan of the unorthodox combat in Chivalry or Blade Symphony. For Honor is definitely leaning away from that and I appreciate it.

My gut says Raiden DX or something that's really hard to get like Beatmania.
