Specific Problem: Other types of streams work but HTML 5 will not play. It was working like 1-2 weeks ago. I hit play and it immediately goes back to the initial screen of the video, as if you didn't hit the play button in the center of the screen (the play icon reappears in the center of the screen). I have tried going in incognito to see if my extensions were conflicting and it still wouldn't play. I also reset all my chrome flags to default, because I messed with them and it still won't work. I Have tried it with IE, Firefox and HTML5 works. If this is any help I have also inspected the screen element (<div id="js-vid-splash_button1357000683">Play</div>) and this error is present: "event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead.". Thanks
Update: Weird, I seem to have fixed the problem for myself. Posting this for others to try just in case it might help them too. In Chrome options I selected "Relaunch Chrome in Windows 8" and it opened Chrome in Metro. I then tried hitting play again on GB video with HTML5 selected and it started playing. I then went back into options and relaunched Chrome in desktop and HTML5 is working now.
I enjoyed the show quite a bit. It allowed Giant Bomb to show some games that they probably wouldn't normally show. Of course there are some kinks that need to be worked out, but that will happen naturally over time.
Regarding Carolyn, the reaction to the reaction to her was SO overblown. The whiners were so much annoying than the jerks because they outnumbered the jerks by a wide margin. For every one person going, "lol tranny" or "is that a guy or a girl?" There were like fifty people flooding the chat with "BE COOL YOU GUYS", "OMG SO EMBARRASSING", and "GIANT BOMB COMMUNITY SHOWING ITS TRUE COLORS".
The least mature thing I saw in the chat were all the people getting butthurt and berating other people who don't share their opinion or having an understandably confused reaction to something they probably don't see everyday.
I think one of the purposes of this new show is to introduce some of the GS staff to the GB community. I think they hope to have GB viewership spill over to GS. They just need to get used to the GB's staff way of having these live shows and relax a little.
I hope they cut down on the ammount of GS guests in future shows. Why? Because people on GB choose to be on GB to watch the GB crew and their awesome dynamic. This many guests is just too much, some of the classic GB feel and mood was missing in this one as a result. One or two guests at a max would be more appropriate IMO.
I understand what you are saying, but I think one of the purposes of this new show is to introduce some of the GS staff to the GB community. I think they hope to have GB viewership spill over to GS. They just need to get used to the GB's staff way of having these live shows and relax a little.
Rich's direction with the Hotspot was always a bit too clean. I remember him commenting in one of the Giant Bomb panels on how he thought the guys cuss too much on the Bombcast. Everyone has different tastes, to each his own I guess.
