If you like Minesweeper, Globesweeper is a very good reimagining of it.

As far as cinematic trailers go, that was a good one of those. It feels very strange to me that they're doing a marketing push for two of these 4-player co-op games at the same time. Obviously there hasn't been gameplay of this so it might be way different, but for now it feels like weirdly counterprogramming your own PR push.

That is an uncomfortably detailed and well animated close up of a bug.

This looks very cool though, will definitely keep an eye on it.

Probably. I played the demo last year and my overwhelming impression was how much it felt like a game from the PS2 generation with modern day graphics. There would need to be some serious variation in the gameplay and boss fights outside of what I played (the Golden Gate Bridge section) to make me even remotely interested in picking it up but judging from what's come out since then about the structure of the game this seems extremely unlikely.

That being said, I'd be willing to bet that it still does decently just off the strength of the IP alone. Probably not good enough if SE's standards for the sales of the last Tomb Raider game are anything to go by, but decently.

As a setting to some sort of adventure or puzzle or even action game? Sure, sounds like a great setting. Getting out of a maze could be very cool with a well crafted maze that has interesting things to do, interesting hints on how to get out, a cool story/world.

If the entire hook is just 'hey walk around this maze and try to get out' like a hedge maze in real life then probably not. Also, don't think these forums are really the place to do market research.

That being said, best of luck to you! There probably will be an audience of some size for this and it's always cool to see new game devs trying things.

@imhungry:

"Didn't do it well enough for everyone," was covering the basis for those outside the camp with some driven hate of the game that I label (hated the LGBTQ stuff/non-main guy saving the world/challenging your views plotline/etc). Some could have experienced the game on its merits and were fine with the taboo like subjects many have; yet, they still thought it wasn't done well enough and hated it. I still think hating it after all that is a small camp but it still includes some who just didn't like it, thus the game didn't do everything well enough for everyone. That's me including the significant part of the backlash without writing in circles till I had no side. I had to pick a side and I side that for the most part the game is hated on for things people won't be honest about cause its taboo to openly admit. Those who wholeheartedly don't like it in good faith exist for anything. My point is the internet will have you believe most of the vitriol is warranted hate from that good faith cast instead of those with an agenda be it anti PS4 or anti one of the several taboo/sensitive subjects. Overall, the game isn't the travesty of bad people make it out to be. But yes I agree for a good handful it's the worst thing ever made etc. Never taking that away from them since its an opinion and they're entitled to it, I just don't take it in a highly credible opinion for my taste.

I understand and agree with what you're saying with regards to the online vitriol about the game. I just don't understand why you felt the need to ask the people of this forum to 'be honest' when by and large most of the 'negative' opinions here mostly just think that it's just a video game somewhere in the range from above average to sub-par. Reading the way you talk about it sounds like there's literally only people who think it's incredible and those who absolutely hate it which just isn't true, especially on this website. Just seems odd to fixate on hate from random people online when there's such a wide breadth of opinions in between.

@quantris: I believe there are other ways to get apps but compared to downloading an .apk and going on with your day on Android it's much more involved and also much sketchier. Like 'pretend to be a developer and run the app as a 'test' app that you renew certification for every week with a private server' kind of sketchy.

Anyway it'll certainly be interesting to see this play out at the very least. Definitely don't ascribe any noble intentions to Epic at all, they just want more money, but if this brings about any widespread meaningful change in either of the app ecosystems then more power to them. That ad is ridiculously laughable though.

Yeah I would probably consider Zombies to be a roguelike, though I don't remember enough about it to say how the levels were generated but it definitely had roguelike elements. The other obvious examples are the early Mystery Dungeon games.
