@turambar: I still appreciate him being nice, regardless.

Thief style play seems more....brave then everything else. It seems most people (myself included) feel safer using a shield rather then parrying. In addition its just easier to block and attack then circle around till you can get the backstab.

Maybe it will be more appealing when DEX and STR are fixed so you can lean hard into DEX and thus have significant damage over everyone else lightning weapon.

The answer is always Say Anything.

1) I put 30 points into str and 20 into Dex...and i use a lightning + 5 washing pole (i.e. no scaling from either).

2) I put several points into INT and i only use pyro spells.

3) I killed the chaos servant merchant thus locking me out of sweet pyro goodies.

4) I killed patches

I've made a TON of mistakes and yet the game still hasnt become impossible.

You guessed wrong. At a very obvious point in the game you can start 'selling' stuff for souls.

You will not notice the difference between say, 20 str and 21 str speed. However it all goes towards it. I cant give you an exact number, i doubt its deciphered just yet.

You are in the depths. Those are not really mini-bosses. Just chunky normal guys. Good news! They do not respawn once killed.

Dont get too hung up about class. Its pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things as you can get all the class starting stuff throughout the game.

Covenants are like worshipping in nethack. Theres 9 covenants, you know the drill, ranging from lawful good to chaotic evil. They largely only affect your online experience so dont feel too worried about them.

Humanity allows you to become human. When you're human your item drop rate increases, you can kindle bonfires (allowing for 10 flasks, not just 5) and if you find someones white scribbles on the floor you can someone into your game for help. On the downside though, you can be invaded.

Ill tell you the worst kept secret - the drake sword. Its not going to make sense now but after you run across the bridge and avoid the dragons breath you can go under the bridge to see his tail. Make sure you have atleast 12 dex, equip a bow and some arrows (obtained at the male merchant for 1000s + ammo) and shoot the dragons tail. Do this about 20 times and it'll break giving you the drake sword. It requires 16 STR and 10 DEX (however you need 12 to use the bow to do damage, so you'll have more then enough). It is totally awesome, i used it for like 15 hours.
