E3 2010 Most Anticipated Games

Well, E3 is over and... it kinda sucked?  I dunno, I guess it might not have sunk in yet, but I feel like there were fewer "WHOOOOOOOA!" moments this year than in years past.  Nonetheless, of course there are a few things I'm looking forward to in the game department.  Here's an extremely short (and lazy) top 5 games whose releases I'm anticipating the most following E3 2010.

List items

  • Ok, I'm a bit of a Konami fanboy as you might be able to tell from my top 2. HOWEVER, I'm also an even BIGGER Castlevania fanboy, so anyone who knows me probably saw this coming. Finally seeing this game in action, I can't wait to play it. It has a great art style with some cool atmosphere thrown in with that hack and slash gameplay I just cannot get enough of. To put it frankly, my most anticipated game following E3 2009 is once again my most anticipated game following E3 2010. That probably says a lot about me, but it also says a lot about the quality of this year's E3.

  • CUT SHIT! That's really all I have to say, but of course I'll say more. I love the Metal Gear universe. I love the gameplay LESS. Putting that world into a third-person action game (my favorite genre) as opposed to a stealth-action game is a big plus for me. Not to mention you CUT SHIT! YOU CUT EVERYTHING!

  • What can I say? DKC is one of my most fondly remembered game series from the SNES library. The big guy hasn't really had a lot going for him as of late, being placed in forgettable bongo games and even worse racing games, so I'm glad they decided to take him back to his roots. Normally, I'm a little more critical of these kinds of deliberate "throwbacks", but because of his recent misfortune, I'll give DK this one.

  • I've said it once and I'll say it again. I like the IDEAS and CONCEPTS in Gears games a lot more than I've liked actually playing them. This will likely be no different, but there's no doubt that some of the new stuff shown in Gears 3 looks pretty damn sweet. Co-op is always a big plus for me.

  • Yep, Nintendo kinda killed it this year and despite the fact that I'm not likely to play a whole lot of the games they announced (at least not on the Wii), this game looks just too good to pass up. I've always been a Kirby fan; games in the Kirby series seem to be rarely less than average; and this newest game looks... well... epic! Great art style and some intriguing gameplay going on in this one. I'm definitely excited to play.
