I love that it was incredibly obvious to Drew that Akiba doesn't have nanos, even though in the game it's like a last chapter character trait reveal thing

I'm not gonna go deep in to this because I like the game and others dont and thats alright, but I do find Abbys (R) constant idea of "thing x was presented to me like this and this is how I interpreted it in the moment, how come not every single thing is consistent with it?" a bit weird as if the world was so black and white. :D By this I mean things like the talk about rattlers and humanity and whatever else was there. Like y'all live in the US, you're really surprised that there are elements of society that would capitalize on absolute misery and horror? But to each their own, I don't wanna sound like I'm just completely bashing someones feelings or thoughts on this game.

As a side I wonder how much the current atmosphere in the states affects peoples ability to go through entertainment media like this thats pretty grim and not something I would describe "fun" in a traditional sense. I live in the nordics and things are pretty good here and I played this game in like 12 hours sessions, just could not put it down until I finished or really had to sleep, I was so engaged with its gameplay and the story. Probably just an individual thing regardless of country but just a thought I had.

Good cast, keep trucking!

Aside from the writing in Doom Eternal I have had none of these problems with the game. I played through the entire game on ultra violence and I think its the perfect level of hectic. Every time I chainsaw a dude my brain releases a burst of dopamine because it means I get a 2 second break from some of the most intense and fun combat I've ever played in an FPS game. It's great, but it requires all of my focus so a 2 second breather is nice. I also find the flame belch + blow shit up combination so satisfying. The flame belch is not largely meant for big monsters, you group up the small ones and belch + nade for armor rain.

I also disagree with the weak points being crucial, they are not. I think the only one I break consistently is the arachnotron because its so easy. Also I don't ever use the snipe for any weak points, the shotgun sticky bomb is the way to go. If you do want to snipe though but struggle with it, the slowmo rune is the thing for you. I love it just in general to get that tiny breather to assess the situation in the middle of combat. With the shoulder cannon dudes and mancubus' I found it way faster to just blast them with the super shotgun up close or empty a full clip of mini rockets in to them and then glory kill. Those guns are so strong the enemies will flinch and won't have the time to shoot you anyway.

I'm surprised people seem to think 2016 is the better game. I think Eternal is better in every way. I found 2016 to drag on the latter third, exactly because the combat is so samey all the way through. In 2016 I'm always using the same weapon because why would you ever switch, I'm never chainsawing because why would you ever need to. I'm always wiggling around because there are no movement options. I think Eternal fixes all of this with the dashing, fire belch, nades, super shotgun meat hook and constant weapon switching for different purposes makes it feel so dynamic and fun that I can't think of a single FPS game that gets even close to that levels of fun for me. I was so focused on playing the game that after every session (granted, each was about 5-6 hours long) I was so tired I took a 30 minute nap :D I've never played a game that requires so much focus from me.

I do agree that in the first lets say 3 hours the game can seem overwhelming because they throw A LOT of stuff at you. Luckily it then evens out nicely.

Bummer it didn't click for folks the same way it did for me but it happens, hopefully everyone still enjoyed it to some degree :D

I wish one day they'll learn to not be scared shitless all the time and just make some plays, like when they hear a car they'll either find a good window or go outside and try to kill them because that is far more effective than sitting in a corner with the door closed. It is incredibly easy to kill campers in this game, because the one making the play and moving forward is far more focused on whats in front of them and will react faster when they see a dude sitting in a corner, who is also much easier to hit than the guy peeking from the door. Especially in 3rd person mode it's so easy to check your corners before going further in to a building.

That being said this series is fun, I just hope they'll be a bit more active and move with a plan on what to do in certain situations instead of just sitting and hoping the enemies are complete idiots :D

My pro tips to achieve a michelin star chicken dinner:

- Loot by dragging stuff in and out of your inventory, that way you don't have to watch the grabby loot animation and it's way faster to take inventory of the room with the menu than by looking at every item.

- Whatever you're doing always keep a check on your surroundings, bandaging is not an excuse to stop looking. Also running is not an excuse to not check your sides.

- Always keep moving back and forth, especially while looting a corpse. The exception is when youre prone since that's for blending in. Stationary crouching on a corpse is just a headshot waiting to happen.

- When youre holed up in a house or something, don't all stack up in the same spot. Theres four of you, use all that extra eye sight to cover every direction you can. Trust your teammates to spot enemies.

- Always favor cars over bikes, cover is king

@danryckert I somehow felt obliged to point out that Android has like 87.5% worldwide market share in operating systems on phones, mainly because I recently had to research this stuff for work and I was surprised as well. I mean I knew it was the clear winner but had no idea that it crushed iOS so hard. iOS is like 12.1% and then the rest is all the garbage that nobody cares about.
