I played through Valiant Hearts in one long session from New Years Eve to New Years Day, really liked the game.
I just finished through the story mode of Puyo Puyo Tetris. The AI gets pretty ridiculous toward the latter end stages of the game, but playing through helped me improve my gameplay, especially the Puyo Puyo gameplay. The game's pretty fun still, hope to play some online multiplayer if possible.
I'm grinding through Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together and I'm liking the game for the most part, but there's a lot of items to take into account. I hope to see this game through unless the game gets too overwhelming for me to play anymore.
And a little bit of Guilty Gear Xrd here and there. Having fun with the game even though I'm not good at it.
Not sure if I'll participate, a chance that I could be called up to work for that weekend. :(
My prize offerings: Top 3 receives choice of Amazon Gift Card $ or PayPal $ USD, if they choose to accept. $30 / $20 / $10. [Not awarded to recent new GB members. I'll let @gravitypenguin have final say on my offerings.]
Hope to see a good number of entrants for the first GB P4AU tourney!
Aw darn, missed out on competing in UNiEL's weeklies. :/ (You can remove the Google doc link with the weekly results from the OP now if you want Mike.)
I did get to play some of you folks in casuals and had fun, though I apologize for not being much of a match against you folks. (I'm really bad!) I'll still be down for casuals whenever I have the chance. Feel free to add me and ask if you want to spar.
Yes, I've made some good friends through gaming. In fact, it was here in Giant Bomb where I made my gaming friends, some from the FluxWaveZ's Giant Bomb Persona 4 Arena tournaments, some from MikeFightNight's fighting game sessions. A few of the folks I met from those events posted on this thread. I thank them for being cool folks and not minding me being absent/not talking much this year due to some thing (a lot of work hours this year the major culprit). I haven't met any of them in real life, but they're awesome nonetheless.
Here's my quick takes on two games you were possibly looking into...
I enjoyed Ys: Memories of Celceta. Lengthy but enjoyable adventure to explore in the game. Gameplay is pretty simple but fun to play throughout. Lots of content to dig though (items/weapons/accessories, side quests, seeking memories). Graphics look a bit poor (being a PSP port I think) and the game does suffer through slowdown when you're battling tons of enemies at once.
I'm currently going through Demon Gaze and I would only suggest this game if you're a big dungeon crawler fan. The game is pretty unforgiving with random encounters, tons of common enemies to fight at times, boss fights, and constantly paying rent return back to the inn. There's also a few very creepy fan service scenes in as well.
