Games I Finished in 2014

This year I will:

- Allow games that I have finished more than once (very unlikely)

- Add a comment section on how I feel about the game

- Add a quick score because I can never get a proper review out

List items

    PlayStation Vita

Comment: Really liked the combat and what they did to the overall Ys IV story compared to the originals. Only thing that really bothered me was that I could tell this game was a PSP game that was brought over to the Vita. Great entry point into the Ys series.

Comment: Wow, this game was fantastic! This is something that I will remember for this generation that's for sure. The presentation was way too good, especially the Winter section of the game.

    Nintendo Wii U

Comment: Really liked the music especially the extra levels at the end of the game. Got bored at some parts but it was good enough to keep me playing. Damn those levels at the end are really hard! Pixels EVERYWHERE!

    Nintendo 3DS

Comment: I think this may be my least favorite Pokemon game of the bunch. Team Galactic was pretty lame, game is generally a bit on the easy side and really didn't care for any of the legendary Pokemon. To me this was just an average Pokemon game that does what it needs to.

    PlayStation 3

Comment:Played with Mace, MikeFightNight, Kuutochi. This game was super fun to play especially with people that you know. The missions were pretty simple in terms of what you have to do, although we really sucked at stealth... Only problem I have with this game is that there really isn't much to see. The maps are randomly generated but it's kind of predictable sometime.

    NOTE: There is no ending.

    Xbox 360 + PS3

Comment: I know I already made my GOTG list but this game is easily either #1 or #2 if I were to change my list (which I wont). I never liked Demon's Souls but for some reason Dark Souls pulled me in after the second boss. There's something really addicting about this game and it might be the dungeon exploring part that I really like. There's no map so I need to remember where to go and do it with caution since almost anything can kill you. There is nothing really cheap and when I die it's usually my fault for being stupid or cocky.

I went mostly magic through this run and even I think that magic is slightly over powered. My only gripe about this game is the framerate a certain areas. It really hits hard in Blighttown and New Londo Ruins. Other than that, this is one hell of a game and can't wait to play Dark Souls 2 on PC. GOD THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD GAME.

NOTE: Played this offline. (Don't want to pay for Gold)

    Nintendo Wii U

Comment: I'm going to keep this super short and simple. This is probably my favorite Resident Evil after RE4 came out. It was a really nice and slower pace game compared to Resident Evil 5 or 6 (ughh). The characters were tolerable and seem to LOVE faking out their deaths multiple times. It was really nice playing as Jill again after a couple of games without her. Although I couldn't stop staring at her ass because it looked like there was always a light source behind here everywhere. I blame Giant Bomb for bringing that up in the quick look haha. This was a fun game and I would recommended to older RE fans.

Now on to the bad part of the "game". The deadzone on the controls were really bad! At first I thought it was the Wii U Pro controller but a duder mentioned it was a problem in all the versions of the game.

    PC (Steam) [Windows 7]

Comment: I didn't get into Dark Souls until recently and I'm glad I did because a lot of the stuff I learned about the previous game sure carried over to Dark Souls 2. There was a couple of changes that I noticed right away like the lack of invincibility in the roll animation, Estus drinking animation taking a lot longer, stamina bar seems to drain faster and the speed you run at. I played a sorcerer on my first run and first thing I noticed is that the stamina bar drains when you use magic. I don't actually mind it because it didn't really stop me from really doing anything different.

Now on to the game itself. One thing I like is that the world is definitely a lot bigger and more expansive. I won't lie, I got lost A LOT but there were a couple of hints here and there from friends and some were found by accident. Another thing I liked is Majula itself since it's the hub of the game and most of the merchants and blacksmith move to Majula. It's nice to have everything in one place.

The difficulty of the game was on and off meaning that some bosses were really easy and some seemed like they were designed to be fought in jolly co-operation. As for the online portion of the game, there were many people available to help with boss fights and there was a couple of invasions here and there but nothing too bad that I can recall. Overall I think the game is a bit easier than Dark Souls 1 but that might be because I had the skills from the previous game.

It's a good thing I waited for the PC version! This game was buttery smooth at 60fps and looked fantastic at 1080p on my 40" TV. I should note that I couldn't play on my TV for the first 3 days because of an issue with HDMI to HDMI on a AMD graphics cards. They patched it a few days ago so it's all good!

I hope this game comes out on the Playstation 4 because I would love to keep a hard copy of this game and it would use the power of the PS4 to run at 1080p 60fps.

----- DLC: Crown of the Sunken King-----

    July 31, 2014

Comment: This DLC was more frustrating than anything else. I was looking forward to more Dark Souls 2 content because it was so awesome but it ended up being a bummer. The problems I had with this game was the tight and narrow paths/corridors in this game, the first non-optional boss was super difficult solo and last is that stupid invader Jester Thomas being way too powerful.

The narrow paths in this game makes it super hard to fight especially if it's 3-on-1 and most of the time I just end up backing off until they split up and kill them that way. I wouldn't complain that much if there were less pits of death but there's a ton of them in this DLC.

Second is the boss battles being way too difficult to fight alone. I tried countless times when I died without summons but in the end I had to resort using my Human Effigies. The only way I was able to defeat all 3 of the boss battles was to summon human players to help me out. Oh boy it was still difficult with 2 other people but we pulled through till the end (well except for that guy who died RIGHT at the end). I'm not going to spoil anything here but screw archers in the souls series, they are way too damn damaging!

Last is that fucker Jester Thomas. That invasion took me way too many tries to kill him. I would even go to say that he was much harder to defeat than some of the bosses in Dark Souls 2! The only way I finished him off was to stay in his own healing spell and spam the hell out of my magic.

Long story short I didn't enjoy this DLC much.

NOTE: I played this on NG+ since I started it before the DLC came out but it wasn't that difficult for normal enemies. The bosses though, it made it way too hard.
