My hatred for Dimitar Berbatov

Dimitar Berbatov is the current number 9 for Manchester United. I love my club very much and have done since I was a child. There have been some great number 9's throughout the years and then along came the 30 Million pound flop Berbatov. The man holds up the play has no shooting boots and is too slow and lazy. When you think of the man that was kept out of the team for Berbatov last season, that man being Carlos Tevez who is on a goal tally of 22 League goals this season for out bitter rivals Manchester City, it is a travesty that he was kept out of the team. I feel that the team should sell him on now and cut the losses, maybe bring in someone like David Villa or Sergio Aguero.

I feel that there is no way into this team for Berbatov he doesn't fit the type of players and the type of play that Fergie uses. It has to be one of the biggest wastes of money since AOL bought bebo for 800 mil only to close it down.

For all these people who say we need to give him time and other nonsense, shut up and stop wasting our time. He has had 2 years to try and fit in and lost one unique talent that we will never get again (Carlos Tevez).

That's my two cents on Dimitar Berbatov for the moment, I have said a lot worse in the past but I feel it is not appropriate for here.

He doesn't fit into the system.  He's no longer the go to guy so he takes his time to setup Rooney.  He has a slow burn in affect.  He burns through a team slowly in a game, but at the end he does a good amount of damage.  He is a flop because they brought him in to score goals something which he hasn't been doing.  He can't get anymore time.  2 years in the EPL is like a lifetime.  I don't think Tevez wanted to stay in ManU.  He seems like the type of player who wants glory and behind Rooney he wouldn't get it.

He isn't a Man Utd type of player at all, and nor is Owen.  Tevez totally is.  Utd. don't win because they're better; they win because they want it more than the other team.  Berbatov doesn't even look like he wants to be there half the time.

who are you people

I'd stay far away from Villa and Aguero - both over-rated and over-priced.

Tevez was too selfish to deal with a rotation system that all top clubs enforce.

If the reports are true and we can get 20mil for Berba from Milan I think we should bite their hands off.

I didn't think tevez was that great until this season, he really is one of the best strikers in the premiership.

Sergio Aguero has said he wants to go to chelsea, but that was only really in the context of chelsea rather than man city i think.

Yup the Berb is a waste of space, but then again so is another Tottenham signing and that's Carrick, who was at fault for both goals in the 3-2 loss to Munich. United should sell them both and purchase Benzema. Also it's such a shame United didn't sign Robben or Sneider last year from Madrid as they are both amazing players who were going for cheap. Who are Uniteds scouts anyway? It really pisses me off how bad they are at spotting good players....

Edited by cap123
@nail1080:  Robben is such a risky buy though, chelsea had him when he was younger and he was the best thing since sliced bread, then he got injured and never seemed like the same player again. Real Madrid bought him and he started to come into his own again, only to injure himself once more (well he actually never performed for them, it was at the euros for holland he was great). They sold him for cheap to bayern and out of nowhere he's found form again. I would not be surprised if next season or even during the world cup he got injured again, he is the ultimate made-of-glass footballer.

@cap123: I don't take much notice of players who fail to perform at Real. There's so many deep-rooted problems there that I can't blame players for flopping.

Think it would be great if we could get Benzema on the cheap this summer , although his value won't have dropped too much.

He's a good player, he did a lot for tottenham in the last season he played for them. He's lazy, but so was Ronaldo for  good few seasons before he started playing well.

Besides, its not like Man U only buys great players. They buy everyone who seems decent and only half of their buys end up being good. People are only noticing Berbatov because you're having to rely on him. I think it serves Man U right.

Ronaldo was never lazy, just petulant and selfish.

And they don't buy ''everyone that seems decent'' . Apart from Berba their buys in recent seasons have paid off well.

It's important to remember that it's not Berbatov's fault that Tevez was sold so stop blaming him for it.

Not gonna matter as long as you guys only play 1 up front.  Until Fergie feels like adjusting formations, strikers will get wasted on that club.  it's not like they couldn't play Tevez and Berba up front with Rooney playing that shallow forward spot that he loves so much, but Fergie won't adjust formation, so Tevez gets screwed and goes to City and lights it up.  That's just how it goes with Man U unfortunately.

@mnzy:  bayern to play badly but still go to lyon with a lead, say 2-1.
Edited by ITheKTrainI

I don't think that Lyon are as strong as other people may think. At the moment they are doing a great job of holding Bayern at the Allianz but I see the quality of Bayern shining through. On another note I think Benzema would be a bad purchase, i find he is the French Berbatov. I feel at the start of the season they're players could have gone for your Sneijder and Robbens, hey even Van der Vaart would have been a steal at the start of the season. When the transfer window opens it will be nice to see what players caught the gaffers eye at the World Cup. I don't see a big clear out of Real this year as there was last year.

On the subject of comparing Ronaldo and Berbatov starting out at United: Ronaldo was a teenager when he started out and had plenty of room for improvement, Berbatov is touching 30 and he is supposed to be hitting his peak soon. He could be a great player but not the right type for United.

I understand, I jumped the gun a bit there its not really his fault it's the gaffers for making such a stupid decision. But hey it's his job and at the end of the day we may suffer as supporters but it's his job and he is doing what he thinks is right even if we don't agree with it.

Finally onto Fergie playing one man up front: Something I can never understand is the one man upfront. As a supporter I feel it is not the wisest way to go about it. We should have the players there to cover for to people up front, those two being Rooney and Berba. When they are injured or being rested there should be a back up, I know Owen is there but seriously. Then you have a few youngsters (Macheda, Diouf and Welbeck who is at PNE) for his back up it's silly. Now with this new fella coming in Javier Hernandez who is another youngster I just don't know if he is going to being in an experienced proven striker. I said earlier about Aguero and Villa I understand about the price that was wishful thinking which I feel we all have. They're some real targets out there that wouldn't cost that much Defoe, I know he is another Spurs man but I always felt he would fit in the squad. Maybe even Yakubu might be a good choice now these are cheap alternatives that could be looked at if this was desired.

Anyway of for a bit of MW2 and the second half of the match. Lads cheers for the comments and the feedback keep it rolling.

Talented footballer no doubt, but it really hasn't worked out. You mentioned Villa and Aguero, both excellent players who I'd love to see at the club (especially Kun). But the simple fact is, we just don't have the money for either of them. Either of them would probably cost in and around £40m, which United can't really afford based on their current debts. The papers were suggesting Ferguson was planning on selling Berba to Bayern for £20m, which would be a great deal (I'd carry him to Bavaria myself), but I just can't see it happening. Until United get new owners, its not looking great...

@The_K_Train: It's ok, AC Milan are supposedly after Berba now. At least ye'll get 2 million back of the 30 you spent on him. Ha Ha
