well done valve, now the two biggest players in pc gaming are day and day releasing their titles on mac and pc, and, speaking as a mac owner, i'm overjoyed.

furthermore I really hope the larger publishers start to support the platform (ea et al), but i really cant see the mac really taking off as a gaming thing, especially when i think of the indie scene.

now i'm off to upgrade my graphi........ oh.........and that as well

I played the demo 3 times now, in English, German and Russian , and as a speaker of all 3 I though that the voice acting was done pretty excellently. It didn't simply translate word for word, but made a sincere effort to cater for the subtleties of each individual language. Surprisingly, I found the english voice acting to be somewhat worse than all the others, mostly because it was clear that it was europeans mimicking a US vernacular. The other two versions were slick, stylish, and never had an awkward, split-second pause that broke that portion of the experience. I think that I'll forego playing in english, at least the first time round, in the real thing. The accuracy of the russian voice-over astounded me, personally. Mad props to the developers who made the game's voice acting pretty damn immersive in so many languages (assuming the versions that I have not played hold up). A bit of a niggle of mine is that they didn't translate the floating-thought-face-button-text into russian, so it stayed in english, however it was translated into german.

Wow - you know something's going to sell well when schools expect an increase of absentees on the day it comes out!

In school today we were warned that any absences tomorrow (10th) and this week as a whole will be deeply scrutinised and those absent will have to explain themselves personally to senior staff. Clearly some teachers caught wind that this "call of duty game thing" is coming out and people kinda care more about it than school.

Has anybody else expected this sort of thing at their schools, dare I say places of work. This, I should say, is in the UK.

With the release of the Sky Player for Xbox later today, and I am interested to see what other Brits think of it. Is there really a point, since the chances are you have sky on the same TV? For me it depends on the choice of movies and TV series available on - demand  -  a Netflix-like service on this side of the pond would be excellent and long overdue. Also, I only have around 5.5 Mb/sec connection,  my personal viewing experience may be sorely compromised.

So what have ben your experiences with it thus far?

Same here, although it has been happening for the last few days. I first thought it was my router settings being too strict (as happened with Halo 3), but since there are clearly other people in my position it's clear that's not the case. I do anticipate a patch - the US version has not hit shelves yet - so we have to see what will happen.

Nonetheless, iToastage FM is my gamertag, and I would really like some GB private races. :)
