The hardcore are the one's who spend the most money, Microsoft has shot itself in the foot, its not THE END for Microsoft, but there DRM issues are not going to make people happy because they won't offer the services Steam does, they will be perceived as Ubisoft was with their DRM. I get where your coming from with your expectations of the the FPS crowd flocking to the Xbox One, but this generation is a lot different than the last one. Consumers are way smarter and way more on the up and up when it comes to these things. Of course, I may have too much faith in humanity, but whatever, I'm an optimist.
Because people are paranoid... I've played games with glorified reviews and praise but I personally didn't enjoy it that much, not because the reviewer lied, but simply because I personally didn't enjoy the game. I'm not a huge fan of strategy games but I like the Civ games and SC games, but how X-com was game of the year and 5 stars I don't get, not because I was lied to, but because I simply don't agree. Game reviewers basically have the luxury of receiving pay for writing about their opinions. Besides, if you can't tell if a reviewer is overhyping something then I'm guessing you don't have that high of an IQ either.
