Glad to see Abel finally get the lovin' he deserves. He's a beast. I'm not sure if Bison is as good as he is on that list, but I pretty much agree with everything else.

Though Dudley seems a little low. He's not great, but he's not C either...

" Finally! Thanks.  edit  Ken's sweep is still 8 frames. No wonder it is damn near impossible to combo. Fuck you Capcom. "
Maybe I'm reading frame data wrong, but doesn't an 8 frame sweep mean it hits on the 8th frame... if so how is that even possible to hit jab to sweep at +7? Ryus jab is +5 and sweep is +5 startup doesn't that leave 1 frame to actually hit the sweep or am I just reading this wrong?

I know you want to wait for your video to be out, but I've been messing around with ken and I'm having trouble connecting u2 off like.... anything. Only setup I can do effectively is FADC'd ex fireball. (I still haven't got the timing for stand jab -> u2). What else is there? I've been sticking with u1 simply because I'm more comfortable with it.

Some people manage to play on the 360 controller, I did for a while when vanilla came out and TE's were going for like $200+. Even with a controller it's a fun game, especially if you can convince some friends to get it too, it's great playing against people at your level and getting better with them. I'd say check it out, mess around with it and if it's something you want to get more serious about then get a stick.

I've won games and got a B on offense. I still won, that's all that matters. If you're eating jump ins all day then yeah, you have a bad defense. Same applies to teching throws, but if the game grades you on using perfect focus attacks and reversals then whatever. If your opponents health bar went to zero faster than yours then your defense is fine.

Rather than trying to build some god tier perfect defense grade you should watch your replays of your losses and find out what was the specific weak point in your defense and try to improve that.

A win is a win, holmes, and a loss is a loss.

Take this with a grain of salt; I've never played Dudley, but I've played against him a lot (but I'm not a balrog so....)

I think they AI in vanilla just spammed TAP didnt he? You smack him out of that, uppercut, or even ultra that shizz on reaction if you buffer it when you're at like... midscreen.

I think Dudley has better footsies too, you gotta know what your sexy pokes are. I think your crouching strong will beat out rush punches if you time it early, and it's uppercut cancel-able (Right? I think I've been hit by low jab, low jab, low strong, mgb) if he does an EX rush.

" As for the ball top vs. bat top question, I thought I might prefer a bat top since I've been so used to American style arcades, but I actually really like the ball top. I prefer the Japanese layout for the buttons too, instead of the American straight buttons. With the straight buttons, I find my elbow has to be tighter in to my body, which isn't as comfortable. It wouldn't be a problem if standing, but sitting, the Japanese shape makes sense.

As for how I hold it, kind of a modified "Wine Glass", with the shaft between by middle and ring fingers and my thumb on the side of the balltop instead of the top and my pointer and middle finger wrapped around the other side.

Awesome "guides" for different grips:

I use a similar grip to the 'Eagle' grip in that video, with 2 fingers on either side of the shaft instead of just my index above it. I think it's the exact same way you described how you hold it in your post, but I'm not 100% sure.

I feel like an idiot about not getting the Due North one - let's just say I was looking at game pages and not character pages...

As far as shattered memories goes.... you summed it up in words I'm far too tired to put on paper myself and I appreciate that... after I finish up my Wii catch-up binge I'm going to head over to my PS2 and knock out Ico, SotC, and the Silent Hills on it. I hear 2 is the best in the series.
