I sort of appreciate the shift in the majority of cases. Now that I am older I find I don't really have all the time to dedicate to a single game as I once did. 
 
Also, I actually replayed Sonic recently and found it a lot easier than I remember. Perhaps because I do have more patience now as well.

I think planning the review out beforehand is a good idea, concentrating on an overall theme for the review. Don't forget to qualify your statements about the game, and be concise. Oh, and proofread, trimming out anything that really doesn't need to be in there.
 
My reviews aren't exactly a good example of this, but I wrote them a while ago :)

It looks fun, I am hoping it'll be able to stand on its own merits though.
