I would love to see a Death Stranding endurance run when it comes out. Not a first look, but a full blown endurance run. Mostly, cause I don't intend to play it myself, but I would love to experience Dan playing the whole darn thing even if it turns out to be a hot mess.

Please no

It'll probably be like MGSV. An experience that's amazing to experience by yourself, but terrible for let's plays.

Oh boy, this is definitely not a stream to watch for people who are experienced with this game.

Seeing Vinny run past fresh ammo is just MADDENING.

I did not get Jeff's negative focus on Doom's multiplayer and snap map. Sure, on paper, if you say 2/3s of a games modes are worthless, it sounds like a bad game. However, I think we should be looking at games on a deeper level besides them being checklists for features.

I get the appeal of this game in theory, but the execution just seems...lacking. The actual game part just doesn't look fun at all. Having a goofy rail shooter in this type of style would actually be kind of funny. However, it doesn't have the production values to back any of it up.

What's with all these people saying "You should be talking more about the game, not the movie!"

What else is there to say about the game? I think a lot of the footage just speaks for itself. It's another lego game, but with a Star Wars skin attached.

Honestly, MGSV has been terrible for the feature. It just doesn't have the wacky narrative punch/pacing required to make the feature entertaining.

I'm just... really looking forward to something new. Dan and Drew are great together, they should find something fun to play. Could be a different Metal Gear, could be something new entirely. "Stardrew Valley" is a pun that works.

Just because it's not a linear movie like the last four games doesn't mean it couldn't work. They don't want to listen to tapes or mess with any of the cool development stuff. When they play it in the most boring way possible, then of course these videos will turn out to be dull as well.

This is the worst cutscene in the game to me. Not because of any of the visual content or torture or whatever. It's the worst because QUIET CAN FUCKING TALK. She just can't talk in English. In a single cutscene they rendered the most significant part of her gimmick null and void and then keep pretending it's valid! How many translators do they have on Mother Base? Fuck's sake.

@jetlag said:

So why doesn't Quiet just write stuff down?

Because then you shatter the flimsy illusion that her silence isn't a contrived plot point.

She already let on early that she could understand English. Considering how paranoid Diamond Dogs is about spies and such in Chapter 2, it would only draw suspicion that she had the English parasite.

Also, it's explained at the end that she was indecisive in helping you or taking revenge upon you throughout the entire game, so that's why she refuses to speak/write stuff down. I think that's the most contrived character point. They had to tie Quiet's motives to revenge somehow, and that's just weak.

I kinda just block out any criticisms they have for the story at this point. If they're not listening to the tapes, then the story will only feel fragmented, especially in chapter 2.

To be fair that's just poor story telling on Konami/Kojima's part

Hey, guess what, Kojima has always been bad a storytelling. Whether it be overly long and dull codec sequences or overindulgent cutscenes that far outstay their welcome. That argument would likely be valid for any other game sequel, but this is MGS we're talking about.

At least the cassettes allow you to play the game while you listen to the story. It's literally listening to an audio book while you interact in the open world. Also, the game marks which cassettes are important to the plot, so it's not you need to listen to hours of cassettes just to understand the story. It's not the most engaging way to tell a story, but it's not bad considering the video game format.
