Everyone looking for Canada! The first update says the map will reflect Canada going online as well. They're playing by American rules and not even bothering to label it, haha.
You should be keeping an eye on Sony's map right now.
"The real issues are with the type of prevention that was in place, and if this was an inside job (possibly evidenced by the server move) how much could have been prevented? That's the place where Sony should be questioned. They've handled everything else pretty well."
I take specific issue with the prevention of the breach. With such stories of outdated security and poor encryption, that needs to be investigated. I don't know fuck all about appropriate counter measures; all I was saying is that they are designed by people, couldn't people inside know how to undo them? After it happened however, Sony has handle themselves pretty well. The network is down to protect the data while an investigation is carried out and the security is increased. It's the best possible response.
Not sure how you mean the "pothead" comments to sound, but they come off as hostile. Just throwing my change in the bowl, but smoking cannabis doesn't make you a lazy or unmotivated. Abuse can help, but if you lay around all day and aren't productive, you are just that kind of person. Otherwise an interesting poll to put to a gaming community. You should consider other forms of ingestion. Both tobacco and cannabis can be vapourized. You can use cannabis in food. Also a good question would be weather or not people hand roll their tobacco or pipe it, instead of store-bought cigarettes.
I'll put myself in with the crowd of people saying Sony has handled this well so far. Passwords weren't stored in plain text, neither was credit card info. They shut down the service, and are taking as much time is necessary to prevent this problem in the future. They are being thorough. I'm missing out on Portal 2 co-op as well - and it sucks - but free PlayStation Plus is a great consolation for downtime with a service I don't pay for.

@JohnPaulVann: I'm tired of the hating as well, with all the information so far Sony has done as well as they could have with what happened. Jumping to racism is a bit of stretch, people overreact to website redesigns every month.
@AlexW00d: That's what I saw in the comments of one of the new (and awesomes) GB news articles. That they used dev version consoles to get started with fake credit cards, and steal endless amounts of PSN content. Sony had to shut the network down to re-engineer their developer firmware so the same hack can't continue to be used.
