Megadrive collection 2015

It's that time again - illness means lists.

Here's my current Megadrive (or Genesis) collection..with 2 added Master System games.

I'll note whether with box or not.

List items

  • Unboxed

Odd thing, RKA2 was released on both Snes and Megadrive but they're both very different games. This one is far more in line with the megadrive original but was not quite as popular.

  • unboxed

    I really have no idea..seriously.

  • unboxed

    More shinobi goodness..with added dog.

  • Unboxed and in a 6-in-1 cart

Speaking of..it's not the best of the series but it's a damn fine game.

  • Unboxed

I'm unsure if this has anything to do with Go Nagai's Mazinger series but it's your typical side scrolling beat-em-up a la Streets of Rage

  • unboxed

Ergh, can't stand the Simpsons so..whatever. Platform game I think.

  • unboxed

Man, I played this a ton when I was a kid and yet I don't think I ever got past the first level. An isometric shooter where you control a helicopter trying to take out..lets be honest..Saddam and rescue who you can. A classic.

  • Boxed and Unboxed

Such a great soundtrack, such a great game. My favourite platformer, hands down..and that Casino level music..nostalgia.

  • boxed and unboxed

difficult to own a MD without at least one Sonic game. Many prefer the first but I grew up on the second as it was one of my first games (along with MK2) on my MD.

  • unboxed

as above with regards to disney

  • Unboxed

One of the best games ever you say? Noo, can't be.

I suggest you go play this as it stands up even today.

Odd fact, the original 1.00 version has bosses that look very similar to Batman, Godzilla, Spider-man and the Terminator. Obviously these got removed but it's an odd bit of history.

  • Unboxed

oh the 90s..pretty sure this was something to do with rising pollution and Ferne Gulley, Macdonalds and stuff...Captain Planet, he's a hero..etc.

  • Unboxed

More disney platformers...among the best on the platform.

  • Unboxed

Ahh what a great side scrolling action game. What makes this different to most is Sparkster's rocket pack that can shoot him off up/down/left/wherever and is used very effectively in combat. Joylancer for the PC is very much beholden to this game.

  • Unboxed

An almost perfect arcade port of a classic game..with terrible box art. Jeff is crazy preferring the NES version. Side scrolling platform jumping slashing at it's best.

  • Unboxed

Dark Souls before Dark Souls. Another action game based on a comicbook property, Chakan blends platforming with shinobi-esque swordplay and magic. Everytime you die you're sent back to a hub world where you can choose your level again..and then there's the potion system.

    LETS GO

I think everyone has played this by now. A puzzle game where you use a line of suicidal lemmings to get from entrance to exit to the strains of some of the most annoying (famous) tunes of all time.

  • unboxed

One of those games that stays with you, despite not really knowing how to play it. Think bloodbowl mixed with madden and then throw some mines on the playing field.

  • unboxed

I prefer this to but only slightly. More of the same insanity.

  • unboxed

Oh the great debate over which one was better..the capcom Snes version or the virgin Megadrive one. I can tell you which one had better animation, sound and gameplay..and it wasn't the capcom one.

  • unboxed

I honestly have no idea what this is.

  • unboxed

Most of my games seem to be disney ones, due to the fact I got a decent price on a bulk deal from ebay.

  • Boxed

Argh, the bane of my gaming life. I hate this game and yet it kept turning up at my house as a kid. It's a terrible platformer whose gimmick is stretching like..well..stretch armstrong...and the enemies..gaaah. Soccer Kid was better than this shit.

  • Boxed

I wonder if any Americans have any idea who Asterix is..a staple of European culture much like Tintin or Inspector Gadget is guess. Platformer of course..haven't really played it.

  • Boxed

Well, it's not half as good as the Championship Edition recently released.

  • Boxed

Well with the remake about most people know the quality of this platformer.

  • Boxed

LET ME TELL YOU BROTHER that I have no idea about wrestling..beyond what I hear on the bombcast or get yelled at me by friends (IT WAS ME AUSTEN) and that's about it.

  • Boxed

Aliens come and take your mates but you can save them but swimming..or something. It's a great idea and weirdly includes time travel. I think it's one of those concepts that needs to come back again.

  • Boxed

One of the first games that made me go..'woah' in a Bill and Ted manner. Rotoscope animation, storyline..this had everything. Shame about the remake.

  • Boxed

11th birthday present from my eldest sister..a weird shooter, sidescrolling altered beast hybrid..thing. Pretty cool.

  • Boxed

Never tried it, though it's capcom so it's probably ok..

  • Boxed

I loved this game as a kid. There was even this great comic strip to go along with the game in the Sega comic in the 90s..coming back to it today though is super rough, especially in comparison with MK and SF2. That said I still like some of the character designs like Jak, Midnite(sp?) and Shadow. It had some great ideas but a poor engine.

  • boxed

Has the best cover artwork of any SF game (not pictured)but is behind the Snes version in many respects.

  • boxed

An RPG that comes highly recommended..never had a chance to play it though

  • Boxed, unboxed and Master system version

One of those truly great disney platformers. Music and animation are beyond fantastic and it's fun..though the 2nd level dodging minigame on the back of an ostrich isn't exactly fun...

  • unboxed

I'm pretty sure this is actually the sequel or perhaps the gain ground sequel..as it's the Japanese cart. Isometric shooting at it's finest.

  • unboxed

    as above..no mutants, no sale.

  • unboxed

    Not really my thing
