@kkotd: The graphics card thing is cross-promotion which most likely gives Square free marketing for products. Similar to the way you see Iron Man on Dr. Pepper cans and Taco Bell commercials.

And having pre-order incentives on their own site doesn't equate to losing money. If they were to give you 10 dollar for a purchase of the next Square game on their site they're essentially making the price equivalent to what they would be selling at retail (or around the price I suspect they'd be making at retail after retail's 10-20% cut).

Saw it everywhere? I never saw a single ad apart from the first E3 trailer and that Conan Clueless Gamer. That's anecdotal, but so is your view of it. It's a case of them needing to find better ways of marketing their product, not necessarily less of it.

To put it simply, it's a soap opera loosely based on Hamlet with bikers. Personally, I loved the first 4 seasons. Sure most of the third season does go off the rails a bit, but it picks up again in the later episodes of that season. I don't see how anybody can skip the last episodes of the season considering the holy shit moment in the season 3 finale. Season 5, for me, was by far the worst season. Characters become extremely irrational and inconsistent compared to what they were/learned in the previous seasons.

I say watch whats on Netflix at the moment (it's up to season 4 i suspect) and see if you like it.

@perkunas: @mahonay: @example1013: I'm not saying feeling sad over Ryan's death is weird. I'm saying that maybe there's a better, more appropriate way of remembering him as a person from the outside looking in.

Seems like the obvious answer to remember Ryan Davis would be to support the website and community he helped create (aka gifting memberships or just continue doing as you were), rather than shoes. As I said, that's how I feel about it. I'll continue to do as I have always done on this site and watch, listen, and read stuff on this website.

I don't know how about buying premium memberships for people in the community. I get Ryan wore new balance shoes, but in my opinion this doesn't really seem appropriate for people who do not know him on a personal level. It also screams to me as a bit narcissistic. Like somebody going up to a Kurt Cobain's tribute and dropping flowers and yelling hey look at me I loved the shit out of some Nirvana the most. It could be just me, but that's how I feel about the matter.

As a Computer Science major, I know that a bunch of us end up like this. I have personally made it my goal to never be like that. I rarely ever speak to other CS majors and force myself to branch out socially. I go to the University of Maryland, which is a big school, so there's plenty of opportunities for me. This obviously isn't the case for everyone, but IMO, it's definitely worth it to get out there and never be like that guy.

You realize that situation has nothing to do with being a computer science major right? People are hoarders and seclusive because they may or may not have some sort of mental issue. Not because they like to program in C++. Huge generalization there (and clearly wrong).

You really can't say you're forcing yourself to branch out socially and then try to ignore your peers because of some superiority complex (and yes that's the way it sounds like). Hopefully in 4 years (I'm assuming you are a freshmen) you will learn how dumb that statement was and if not good luck with upper level CS courses avoiding to talk to your classmates.

Zynga still exists but the company has major financial troubles.

Basically I think that the company expanded too fast and then found out that the games that they developed didnt really produce enough income to support the staff that they had.

Also zynga should have probably concentrated on quality over quantity.

Quality over quantity won't save Zynga's mismanagement, just look at what happen to THQ.

Zynga has absolutely no competitive advantage. They either copy or buy out the competition. That plan rarely ever works out for companies. Hell, they bought a company that just made a pictionary game (OMGPOP) for 200 million dollars. There's no way to save a company that doesn't even do the work themselves to copy another idea. THQ at least had some franchises that nobody else had. The same cannot be said for Zynga.

NBA 2k13 and Witcher 2.

The Witcher 2 has a built-in benchmark? Where?

I could be wrong. I thought it was in the visual settings in the boot menu, but again I suppose I could be wrong. I swear that's how I optimized my settings. Though, I could be thinking of Tomb Raider which I was playing at the same time as Witcher 2.
