The real problem here that nobody wants to talk about is how stupid half of these concepts are in the first place. Artificial intelligence? Explosions? I know it's how the site has operated from the start, but come on. Common sense. If you want to talk about people gaming the system, I'd start there. Because it's a pretty sure bet Infamous 2 isn't going to be a Pong console.

I don't see the problem. Except for the new powers. I'm sure the developers won't change a whole lot in this game. It got near perfect scores when it came out. Not only that, there was a semi-announcement a long time ago. Sucker Punch said they may be working on it. So Jeff, stop complaining and keep the page up. Pretty simple.

I've seen this happen numerous times and it's really annoyed me too to see such misinformative edits being made to the wiki.

Eh, people gaming the system always irritated me. I can somewhat see boosting for gamerscore, but who gives a shit how many wiki points you have? You haven't done anything meaningful by spamming a page with a bunch of pictures. It only shows that you know how to play fetch. 

I thought about it a little bit maybe the ability to lock only the related pages sections would solve the problem, because if someone is going to mess with the article before the game comes out its usually to add information from interviews so there is less chances that someone would add false or unannonuced information there for some free wiki points.

Worst case scenario is that they never bother to come back and clean it up after the game actually comes out. Just adding stuff is unforunately more fun than going back for clean up duty.

The "similar games"  list on various pages are also filled with games, that are either speculated or doesn't make any sense at all, also on existing pages. People should watch out for these as well. Example: Battlefield 2142 was attached to Unreal Tournament 2003, other than "future" and "weapons", these games have nothing in common in terms of environment, style, universe, or gameplay.

Some of those are no brainers about being in the second game, but matchmaking? really? The game hasn't even been announced yet.

I don't see how the site can have things two completely contradictory ways without seeing the problem.  The idea of a gaming wiki was good, but the "reward" bullshit has sodomized any potential for it to be a legitimate resource.  Because people strive for meaningless crap (points, XP, etc.), the site is cluttered to all hell with every permutation of every detail.  I'd be willing to bet that a good 50% or more of the wiki is useless bullshit that adds nothing and just devalues the potential of the site.  One has to sift through so much garbage to find useful or interesting information.  It'd be nice to have a wiki worth browsing, but any attempt will yield far more chaff than worth. 
 
If you're going to hand out kudos for simply editing, then you can't realistically expect quality in the results. 

I can't count the number of times I've assumed the Picard Facepalm Position at the sight of this very thing.
