People stating opinion as fact is another thing that I think are ruining the image of the game player. Jeff says Shenmue is a terrible game. Fine, that's his opinion, but to say the people who do like the game are wrong is just absurd.

I assume that its just miscommunication. Everyone can have their own opinion, thats common sense. When Dan said he enjoys this game I do not see him getting picked on just because of his opinion. All what happened was like a few seconds of discourse. Hell, at the subject of Dan, even when Jeff and the team lost their minds over his opinion on Terminator 3 it wasn't a "Heaven or Hell" scenario where he had to contest his objectivity or else he had to leave.

Yeah, I tend to approach this stuff with basic faith that the audience is smart enough to realize what's an opinion and what isn't. I'm not going to stop every five seconds, get all wishy-washy, wring my hands a bit, and say "of couuuurrrrseeeee that's just myyyyy opinion." I'm not "stating opinion as fact," I'm "stating opinion in a somewhat forceful way to make a point." If people can't tell the difference, then that's actually kind of sad. But I'm not going to start talking down to people and overexplaining the obvious, either.

@csl316: Everything you're saying is why the market may very well split into camps of "satisfied by gaming experiences that can be found on a phone/tablet" and "let's go all the way and buy a PC." As phones continue to get more powerful and kids continue to grow up with tablets and phones as a primary gaming device, it's somewhat natural that the desire for consoles will continue to dry up. Japan's more or less already there.

I'm shocked there was barely a mention of PSVR at this thing. Isn't that thing a month away?

They've already sold most of their launch day allotment and pairing it up too closely with a more powerful box just leads to confused people thinking they need a "new" PS4 to use VR. I'm not surprised at all that it barely came up.

They didn't have audio yet, but it was really unfortunate timing for Jeff to be making "I'm going to kill you all!" jokes right as Reggie was saying some words about Orlando and Christina Grimmie.

Yeah, I kinda shut my mouth as soon as we got our headphones on and heard what he was saying. Rough timing, and I apologize! I know it must look awful.

I don't understand why Jeff is so down on Enzo. He seems to want the Attitude Era back, but then is down on somebody who tries to throw back to it.

I feel like I explained it pretty well, but OK. I want these gimmicks to feel modern and relevant. Shouting all this tired-ass Jersey/Italian stuff that started falling into modern pop culture around the time The Sopranos got big makes Enzo seem like an old, washed-up character. Working a little "I'm all the way up" reference into his last promo, when contrasted with the rest of his shtick, makes him seem desperate to find something new/modern that "the kids" will pick up on. That practically turns him into the modern equivalent of Scott Steiner shouting "holler if you hear me." Not a good look. He's almost certainly capable of better.

@jeff@unastrike You know, considering how few fighters actually come out, why don't Quick Looks for fighting games also just double as a ranking of fighter feature?

Because we frequently run Quick Look coverage at a game's release, which is before it's been patched, updated, balanced, solidified, forgotten about, and made ready for science.

@zwaffle: Hi! I've been playing The Climb with a regular controller and it's even worse. Thanks for your feedback!
