@mento: Namco's quietly been in the mini-console-adjacent space for a while now, and some of the more obscure games I've already covered have appeared there (I believe Jr. Pac-Man has been on licensed TV arcade machines, for instance). As it happens, their most recent venture in this space was through AtGames, and has caused something of a shitshow. Short version being, some of the units contain NES ports of games while others contain arcade originals.

Also, I can't wait to get into the Tales games so my lengthy time between posts is at least justified by the games themselves. I am maybe a quarter through Tales of the Abyss on 3DS and am waiting to go either XBO or Switch on Vesperia next year.

I'm fortunate to live with people who also like games quite a bit, but they don't really get how I enjoy pretending to drive old cars with no assists. I find the whole thing to be deeply relaxing, as it basically uses parts of my brain that I don't use anymore (I drive to work maybe once a month, otherwise getting around on transit or my feet). Forza Horizon has basically become my forever series for reasons described in this thread.

I used OkCupid and Tinder during grad school. As long as you are being clear about your intentions with people, they are perfectly acceptable ways of meeting new potential friends and romantic partners. My own experiences were pretty positive on both services, though ultimately I would up with somebody I knew from my life prior to those services.

I play a lot of pre-achievement times games and at some point I realized that even though I don't hear a little chime and make a server-side number someplace grow incrementally larger, I still enjoy those experiences. Sorta lump this together with non-Steam games on PC as well. Couple that line of thinking with the "Now I can play Tales of Vesperia on a train" factor and yeah, I don't really miss the cheevos.

Your friend probably showed up with an uber-hoppy IPA, which can be quite a shock if thin lager is what you're used to.

This is why I think flights are such a great way to introduce folks to new beers. Get yourself a spectrum of different beers and let people explore without having to commit to a half liter of something they're not going to enjoy.

My squad has a hobbyist mazer (myself) and a homebrewer in it, and we tend to bring a range of new, untasted and occasionally not great beers to parties. But we all have what we call a "boy beer" or "bottom beer", a cheap swill endemic unto each of us that is our go to cheap shitty beer. Yes, I love me a La Fin du Monde or a Ridgetop Red Ale, but I will also gladly do some damage on a twelve pack of Olympia as well. Drink what you like!
