Looks absolutely incredible. The Forza Horizon series (along with Game Pass) is one of the things that drew me back towards the Xbox ecosystem and ultimately that led to me having this All Access Series X under my TV, so I’m pretty dang excited that I’m getting a new one to dive into in less than 5 months. I’m also really interested in Mexico and Mexican culture so I’m really enthusiastic about the setting.

Hey, just wanted to pop in and say I‘ve recently switched to using Bomb Cyclone from a mix of GBTV and Video Buddy and it’s absolutely fantastic. Great work, thanks for making it 👍🏻

It’s everything I want in a Giant Bomb show. All those guys, talking about the history of games & vide games coverage itself, the nostalgia factor of that Too Hot theme music. It’s incredible. If they can get Rich Gallup on an episode I’m going to lose my mind. It’s doing such a great job helping me get through these weeks at home. I can just stick that on and fire up Destiny 2 or something and the hours melt away. Thanks, Giant Bomb!

This is still happening on the homepage for me in Safari for iPadOS (iPadOS 13.4 - iPad Pro 11”, Late 2018). Toggling from “request desktop site” mode to ”request mobile site” mode cures it for that session on the homepage, though curiously if I set Safari to automatically request mobile site for Giant Bomb by default, it still happens and I have to toggle into “request desktop” and then back to “request mobile” to make it display correctly.

Edit: I normally use an App for Giant Bomb videos on my iPad, but I see up-thread that this also occurs for people on Video pages, so I tried that out and it’s the same behaviour as I described above for the home page.

We’re getting Winter Games! I still think the balance has been off this year (too much emphasis on the relatively dull parts of GOTY, not enough on Specialtacular), but at least the Specialtacular stuff is not quite as thin on the ground as it seemed. I would still strongly urge the crew to consider if there’s a more efficient way of doing the GOTY stuff if they’re going to be so short on time together in future. I get what the recap is for, but maybe limit it to only games where they have enough to say to justify a discussion so that they don’t have to lock themselves in a podcast room for quite so long.

The East crew only came over for one week this year (rather then two). Which is why there is a lack of group videos.

The UPF when the crew were over was essentially the rockband stream and while I do enjoy things like Hitsmas, I think the GOTY podcasts should remain the priority.

Could not disagree more. I don’t particularly mind if they do repeats of formats from the past or not, so it doesn’t matter to me if there’s no Hitsmas specifically, but the Specialtacular stuff is a much better use of getting the entire crew together than 12 hours worth of very limited discussions on dozens and dozens of games, where most of the crew is silent for extended periods. Game of the Year ultimately isn’t that important. If it’s one or the other, I think their time would be better spent playing to their strengths and leaving the GOTY stuff to individual lists. Does there really need to be a site-wide GOTY? I would argue it’s never really made sense for a site whose editorial policy on reviews is that they are individual opinions rather than “the site’s [collective] verdict” to turn around and try to create a consensus “best of” ranking at the end of the year, especially since they refuse to use any system like voting to bring structure to the proceedings. I don’t mind them doing it, because ultimately I can just ignore it, but if it’s coming at the expense of the stuff they’re actually better at, I think it’s the wrong approach.

I don’t think the old format was flawless (far from it), but I do feel like this new one is just a lateral move. I hated the needless acrimony and bad faith arguments caused by nonsense process issues (like impossible to define categories and an insistence on strict outcomes but utterly rejecting using any ordered system like voting - which was fine when it was just a few people, but doesn’t work with the sheer number of staff involved now). But the new format is just kind of boring to me, there’s very little point to hearing these surface level recaps of like every single game as far as I’m concerned.

That being said, I can happily not listen to the GOTY stuff. I ultimately don’t think it’s particularly important. But here’s my thing. If this is what they’re doing with their week all together? Just...Don’t? We can go to almost any site on the Internet for “here are ten good games”. We come here for the personalities and the interactions and the goofy stuff. I‘m happy for them to do less stressful work, but if it’s going to be this...It’s not worth it. Use the time to do Specialtacular stuff and maybe just have individual GOTY lists worked on before/after. Play to your strengths.

Edit to Clarify: I was fine with it last year because we still got the Specialtacular stuff, which is what I like. If they cut all that so that they could cram all this same GOTY/Recap stuff into a shorter time frame, I think it was the wrong call. They cut down on the part that’s totally In their wheelhouse and kept the generic GOTY stuff. I know some people do like that, and as I say I don’t mind just ignoring it, but I feel like they almost entirely eliminated the stuff I want to save time. If they’d even cut down equally on both I’d have been happier than with this situation, where other than Feud and maybe Jeff’s WWE 2K20 video, there’s really nothing for me at all (and even the WWE thing I feel would work better non-solo)

I had the Halo 3 edition Xbox 360. Spartan green with bronze details instead of chrome silver. There was also a bunch of “UNSC Graphics” all over it. Only problem was you couldn’t upgrade the hard drive without losing some of the bronze detailing, so I wound up stuck with the 20GB drive till the bitter end. Liked it a lot though, so much so that I bought the more expensive version of ODST that came with a variant controller that better matched it - it shipped with one that was colour matched, but lacked the UNSC markings & the ODST one added those on.

First thing I did was check that the Killzone 2 Quick Look was there. It is. All is right with the world.

Can’t believe it’s been a decade. I still vividly remember the launch night. A bunch of us were camped out in the old Justin.tv channel’s chat room waiting for the site to go live and talking about Batman (Cos, you know, The Dark Knight was around then). That was a goofy ass night. I’m in the U.K. so it was like an all-nighter for me. Then the place got slammed so hard that they had to set up that old Crowd Image Moderation tool not long after. Heady freaking days.

I’m so into this game, Horizon 3 has used up more than 90% of my Xbox One S time since I got it last year so I’m really excited about the improvements. Really excited about the U.K. setting, it’s going to be a lot of fun seeing environmental details that are more familiar to me. Liking the change to multiplayer open world too, that’s going to make things feel a lot more vibrant. Just want to hear more about the soundtrack now - though really all I need to know is that there’s tracks from the new CHVRCHES album Love Is Dead on Horizon Pulse. Horizon Pulse without CHVRCHES would, at this stage, essentially be a crime.
