@miko1222: I loved Sons of Liberty! Solid Snake has always been one of my favorites, but Raiden grew on me, too. I won't give away anything because I'm not sure how far you are, but some of those boss battles were pretty rough.
@zevvion: my wife got into the beta for mighty loot after Ubisofts e3 presentation. She loved it and I totally forgot about it until now. Maybe I will hook her up for Valentine’s Day. What a romancer I am...
@hippie_genocide: The PC version is jacked up again thanks to the Mantle patch. Gunner seats in any vehicle will typically kick you out of the game. Sad since it ran so well before. Grr.
Aftee continously falling behind on PlayStation Plus drops I bit the bullet and bought a 500GB hard drive for my old PS3 fat. After installation I am looking forward to playing some more Borderlands and some Devil May Cry. I am also on the last challenge levels of New Super Mario Bros. U which I would like to clear. What about everybody else?
All the more reason I want to write professionally and not as a hobby. That being said I can understand bad press may be hard to dispel if poor footage or gameplay is made public. I guess for us non press types the wait continues!
I guess I'm not entirely opposed to the whole "last hit" system as I think rewarding players for epic deeds is important, but at the same time, I can swear that some of my team mates just stood around and watched me helplessly fight / die until it enemy health was low enough to engage. I guess I'm too used to playing Battlefield with my friends with the whole "we all go home or nobody goes home" mentality. I don't mind friendly competition, but I sure felt alone some times!
You are also right, I recall Blizzard telling us that experience was shared. I'm in favor of those doing the heavy lifting of getting a bit more, but the game is still so far from launch, anything can happen.
@c2c: I wasn't even aware of this game. Thanks for the intel. I'll have to add it to my list. I'm definitely interested in the whole genre, so I'd like to dabble in everything before I drop anchor.
Wow. Great post. I went ~12 hours once with my wife when Diablo III launched. She was a Witch Doctor and I was a Barbarian. And no! Not 12 hours to connect. 12 hours of play time once we got in. ;)
@seppli: You said it. Launch was rough -- I knew it would be. I couldn't squeak out 20 FPS even on Low settings. A few weeks go by and I'm running Medium/High on the same hardware. Odd, but OK.
Two weeks ago and life was great. No random disconnects, solid server connections -- all is well. Then we got a patch two weeks ago which introduced the "0 HP bug" along with a slew of connection issues again. This "fix it" patch with Mantle and now vehicles are misbehaving and stuttering has returned.
Good thing my buddies have a rotation of games we go through, or else we'd be miserable...
Better dust off those bronze metals boys, we're going Starcrafting again!
