I'm getting Captain America's shield tattooed on my right arm....

But I'm still if-y about what exact design.
I have to get this perfect because it's going to be on my body for the rest of my life.
I've never examined the shield as closely as I have in the last week. Picking how thick I want the stripes, how the artist drew the star, & if I want an outline or not.

So far I'm really liking the shield in the bottom left. I like how the blue area is larger & the star isn't freakishly perfect like the bottom right.

I'll never regret loving America....
My first choice was getting tattoos like Guile but as you can see the concept has evolved since then.

Dont listen to MB do it . Then post a picture when you've done it i wanna see

Posted by MrGetBonus

I agree on the bottom left.....or the middle right. The fact that it looks like it's busting through a wall may be skewing my judgment a little bit though.

You sir a true patriot not like MB.
Posted by AgentJ

I'd say the middle right. The bigger blue with white star just looks more balanced to me. Otherwise its like a bullseye, and we all know what kind of history Captain America has with sniper rifles...

@turbomonkey138:
I will don't worry bro.

@Keyser_Soze:
True dat, I be reppin' da Red / White / & Blue on this here GB!!!!

@AgentJ:
Lol, all jest aside I agree. I'm really trying to find the balance with the stripes, I definitely don't want the bullseye effect.
The middle right has the same characteristics I like about the bottom left.
I just kinda need to "moosh" them together lol.

@jNerd: I was actually being ironic, anyone who correlates tatoos with patriotism just needs to stop.

I'm not one for tattoos, but that's a pretty neat idea :P

one thing about that tattoo; IT CANNOT MOVE (Bombcast reference lol)

Saying one thing meaning another. Sarcasm is a form of irony.

Dictionary.com:
1. the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning: the irony of her reply, “How nice!” when I said I had to work all weekend.
7. an objectively sardonic style of speech or writing.
Posted by Bigandtasty

When you punch people will you be like "CHARGING STARS"?

Posted by AgentJ

How nice that you had to use the 7th definition : )

I forgot to include the first one, but I made it abundantly clear when I actually typed it out in my own words "Saying one thing meaning another", which is pretty much what Number 1 definition is saying.

Anyway don't be upset that you got schooled on the definition of irony and are now trying to argue against the dictionary, and for your information it doesn't matter if it's the first or 999th definition, if it's a part of the definition then it's a linguistically correct use of the term.

Ergo, I was being ironic and you sir are WRONG!! STAY IN SCHOOL KIDS AND DON'T DO DRUGS!

I was originally going to just go with flat colors but now I'm leaning towards a little light & texture (like this)

hmm find a really good tattoo artist, because that pic in the OP is seriously sloppy- one sloppy looking circles.
those pics are pretty cool. i have to say that comic pic right there, that shield looks amazing. all glossy and shit.

@jNerd: I don't like tattoos and I can't really tell you which of the shields in those pictures would look better as a tattoo. My advice is just not to do it. The actual picture of the tattoo of a shield looked pretty bad.
Edited by jNerd

I appreciate all the sincere precautions about not getting a tattoo, nonetheless one like this, but I'm definitely going to do it.
My second tattoo is actually going to be one similar to Ryan's binary arm-band.... actually it's almost identical except mine is a "J" :P

I point your attention to this:

Don't get one. Or if you do, get one that isn't so terrible. Thanks.

@SamuSlave:
I don't see anything on there about badass comic book tattoos....
Posted by Player1

I agree. Bottom left looks the best to me. Maybe keep a tiny bit of the blood?

Posted by AgentJ

You know what, since you seem to like Iron Man (and comics in general) maybe you should get a tat of Iron Man wearing Captain Americas shield. An "Iron Patriot" so to speak.  lol

They would fall under the, "I have no independent personality and I'm unaware of just how lame and infantile most comic books actually are, especially one about a dead superhero, talk about irony".

P.S. Yes AgentJ I used irony in its correct context yet again.

@Player1:
I've been thinking about that.... I'm gunna tell the tatt artist & see what they sketch up for me.

Ya know yer pompous as fuck bro. I think it's funny that you're bitching about how infantile comic books can be while you ramble on about videogames all day. You don't have the right to judge jack-shit, you're equally as fuckin independent because you DON'T have a tattoo. Chill the heck out bro or go chill at StarBucks with all the rest of the stuck-up shits no one wants to hang with.

Chillax, I don't like Coffee broski, and starbucks, pfft, I stick it to the man, I wouldn't even drink their tap water, that's how real I am. But if you're ever in the neighbourhood we can like hang and get our heads shaved together in a totally fierce way to be independent broski.

Let's just take a chill pill dude, it's all good in the hood.

@jNerd: As far as tattoos go this is probably one of the better ones. The only problem I have is that the
This is rather boring.
Captain's Shield is that it is little more than a circle with three stripes and a star in the middle. So if you have your heart set on this I would go with some variation of the shield.

@jNerd:

As someone who does have a rather sizeable tattoo on his left arm and is having an entire sleeve done on his right forearm, my advice is to WAIT on this. First of all, your idea is stupid; the people on the board are not lying when they say this. However, it's not stupid in the sense that you'll regret it, or any of that bs, it's stupid in the sense that you're going to blow your first tattoo on something VERY basic.

Whatever artist you find to do it will most likely find the whole thing boring himself, and he'll just take your money and let you go. I think this is less of "I WANT CAPTAIN AMERICA'S SHIELD" and more of "I REALLY WANT A TATTOO AND I THINK THE SHIELD WILL LOOK COOL." Believe me, there are a ton of original tattoos that an artist can create for you that will absolutely blow away any idea you have in your mind. If you really want to do this, find something that is meaningful to you, or find what you want to represent. If it's patriotism, tell the artist that, and he can probably create a tattoo with an Eagle design perhaps, or something actually interesting; and something that can be considered art.

MY advice, as someone who already has one (And doesn't regret it at all) and is having heavy work done in the upcoming weeks, think it over, then decide. If you have any questions about the process, I can answer most of them for you.

I'm surprised that Jakob hasn't thrown his opinion in here yet.

I agree with what Bruce said. Maybe put a little bit more thought into it before you dive in. Perhaps something more complex or something you like more will come up.

I don't know man..I'm all for people getting somewhat unique tattoos, but maybe give it some more thought before pledging your allegiance to Captain America. Have you considered the Green Lantern logo? :)

Tattoos arent a good idea unless you have the money to get them removed.
